I can see where you're coming from. I don't necessarily have a set art-style, which is why I occasionally experiment with something (different tools in my drawing program/different drawing techniques) and that's also why there's a large difference of quality between my drawings. In this particular image, I was still using Manga Studio 4 (which was really nice, since it had really nice tools. Unfortunately, my old PC died and I couldn't get the download for MS4, since it was changed to a different program now) and I wanted to try the gradient tool, as well as the lighten-layer tool.
It's probably different because I added some colors and a background. Probably the fingers.
