For the death card I decided to go with a hard edged line on the shadows, except for the phoenix in the background. I placed Phleona the phoenix and the flowers here as a reminder that this card is really about change and personal transformation. The card will not predict actual death.
Judgement usually depicts judgement day with an angel with a trumpet. This card assures us that the end to a cycle is coming and things will soon come full circle.
I just now realized that I drew and colored the death card just hours before we get a new president. The card and our new president both promise change. Let's hope it's change for the better.

Related to that, I'm very curious as to what Kelvin will come up with for The Devil. In one deck (Robin, I think), that card has the naked figures of a man and a woman dragging a large trunk down a stone tunnel and glancing back with terrified looks on their faces. There is no sight of a devilish or demonic figure anywhere.
Putting a Phoenix in the same image as the Grim Reaper is a good way of getting the card's true meaning across . . . fore a Phoenix is a creature of rebirth that renews itself after every death . . . thus enfasizing the meaning of the "death", closing, or ending of an old way and the beginning of something new.
Nice work!
