I drew this self-portrait to signify the end of an era of my life.
WARNING: contains a lot of references to my own, personal mythology.
It will be coloured at some point.
Oh, and it comes with a poem:
She said:
Give me a crown of ivy
and I will carry it
and I will make its poison mine
She said:
Give me the overwhelming lilacs
after a warm summer rain
and I will feel no pain
Give me the heather to make a bed
as hard as bone, dry like tinder
awaiting the lightning forest fire
Give me a blanket of woven lavender
to carry as a constant reminder
of all my wrongdoings and mistakes
Hide the peppermint under my pillow
softly, carefully, without me knowing
to make the night’s dark my dreams
She said:
Make me a chain of dry cloves
for the songs never sung
and let me carry it around my neck
so that I won’t need to miss
all I had to leave behind -
no, let it all just be history
untold and forgotten
