Old art!
I created this creature, so I now dub it a 'Merwyrn' for no particular reason. I thought to do what a hobbit would look like if it was 'born to swim', since hobbits are usually afraid of water because their bodies are pudgey and their arms are quite short. I found I had to stretch its body, almost otter-like, long neck aligned with the back, and now it looks more like a man than a hobbit. I thought of how it would be as just an animal, that is would need a thick tail as a rutter, fur to keep warm, and webs tween the toes and fingers. It survives mainly on fish and other shellfish, and its body is able to go up on land to mate on the coast, and maybe forage for food on land. It never wanders far from the water since thats its protection against preditors, yet can hide on land if a shark or alligator prowls around. A Merwyrns back legs are long and powerful like a frogs, and yet has not learned to stand upright and hops rather rabbit-like. It's big eyes have a thin skin that covers them underwater, and its nostrils are like a seals. It has sharp teeth, only two canines for wripping, the scraps it eats are whole, which its digestive system can handle. what if a hobbit could fly LOL (ballpoint pen, colored in Photoshop)
