(Even though the flora/fauna contest of March is long since over, folks are always free to submit plants or creatures to the stardragon world. The same rules apply as with the contest in that by submitting them you are allowing them to be an open species for folks to use in the stardragon world. Cunning, sleek, and stealthy these beasts once seen almost exclusively in the dense jungles Sweepers inhabit but are now a much more common sight. Raptors have been successfully domesticated and can now be found through out Jo'Arca. For the most part they are loyal and friendly towards their handlers and if raised well, towards others. Though be warned: their wild nature does occassionally show through, especially if they are poorly trained or underfed and woe is the fool who dare mistreat their raptors.

They are extemely intelligent and are quick on their feet with seemingly endless energy these beasts need lots and lots of exercise and wide open spaces to run. Normally they are used as single person mounts but occassionally you can see one pulling a small cart or being used as a sort of pack mule. Raptors are known more for their speed than their strength, though, and will quickly lose stamina and collapse if overburdened.

Raptors come in a wide range of colors and patterns, though these large lizards are commonly seen with more earthy colors and bare. Spines are the second most common, then feathers and lastly frills. Typically the more feathered beasts have been bred for their plummage to be a fancy display for those wealthy enough to keep them, or are used in colder climates. Feathers and frills tend to be a lot more colorful than their bare and spined counter parts but a frilled raptor is exceptionally rare and considered quite the prize to whoever owns one. These creatures can also bear a variety of combinations of traits too. For example, a feathered raptor may have spines as well, or a frilled may have both feathers and spines!
