Endless Realms bestiary - Psionic Dragon
Bestiary artwork for Endless Realms, a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.
Differing from other dragon concepts in the game so far, this dragon isn't a demigod or avatar of a particular elemental or cosmic force. To be honest, I'm actually not too sure what the team has in mind for this guy, but asked me to come up with a psionic dragon with four wings and a dark yet vibrant colour scheme :)

You should maybe try giving it a shot, anyway :3 Sometimes even sorta crude stick pictures with labelled explanations can be perfectly adequate! I mean, there's always room for improvement later, but at least you can start getting them down :3 And if you really like some of them, you have something you can hand off to an artist to finish :)
Yeah, I have, but ER stuff makes the most consistent and reliable pay and takes the least amount of time (instead of working with, say, ten different people who all have different schedules and response times and abilities to pay, ten different conversations where we have to hash out details and quotes and money, and ten different people payment schedules to keep track of, I just have the same assignment each month and am always given X each month to do it, so I save a ton in extra unpaid "secretarial" work), and since I'm the sole income for my husband and I (okay, he does a bit of teaching/etc. as part of his Phd program, but he doesn't have much time aside from that), I can't really afford to get lax.

Sorry for the delay. xD But. If you'd actually be willing to collaborate on some character designs sometime or, at least, I'd love to help you with some of your designs someday as well. I know its something you may not do all the time and such, but. It sounds like a lot of fun!
And while on the topic of art, yeh. I know, stickfigures are better then nothin'. c: Its just.. well, I can imagine something PERFECTLY in my head. Like. ITS THERE. But I CAN'T draw it. I get way ahead of myself and get frustrated that I can't do it, then quit. xD
I understand 100%! ^=^ It is reliable work and pays well enough. c:
I'd do the same if I was in your situation! But the occasional personal work would be awesome to see if you ever have time. ^=^

There are only two things I never screw around with in role-playing games; Bartenders, and Psionic beings...
You could say I have adopted the mentality of the inquisition in regards to Warhammer 40k; "DON'T... JUST DON'T USE MIND-ALTERING REALITY POWERS EVER!! IT WILL NEVER END WELL!!"

i somehow missed the psionic part though, so that wouldn't apply here. pip was a tiny venom spitter. mostly i was thinking small because i didn't see any indication of scale. its venom being painfully and instantly deadly.
most powerful psionic creatures i can think of are the zozzles from their own short story also in ananlog sf sometime in 70s or 80s
and dagons from the lion game, one of schmitz' telzey amberdon stories.
neither of those quite fit. kelly freas cover for the lion game had one teleporting through a wall, a massive stout creature, a psi hunter, that pursues psi prey by teleporting, they'd make a unique kind of trap for pc's who were high level and high level psi's. and the players in the story lion game are high level psis. and the zozzle was a just a cute little fluffy thing, if they every let you see their actual selves, that could reach into your mind and make you believe you were living your worst nightmares, as its natural defense. they wouldn't make more then a mouthful for a dogan, but their own preditors must have been something like one, and their own predators were long extinct before anything humanlike discovered their world.
i just leaped before looking closely enough again.

He's actually not intended to be a tiny dragon - just his spread wings required me to draw him small. Here's a closer look if you're interested: http://sta.sh/01j3en0emjoe
Creepy ;) Makes me actually think a lot of another creature we have: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15069989/
