gift/trade kinda thing for
hyenafur
his character 'Karl'
in the reference he was more of a knight but as I drew him he came out all buff and barbarian-esque, and then the idea of an old comic parody came to mind.
anyway, hope ya dig man :3

The carven-stone title letters, bookended by the dinosaur claws; the wonderflly proper punctuation in the top teaser box; the lishdiscious "distressing" job A very good treatment all around, except for one detail.
The blue-&-white checker seen on the hilts is the RL national totem for Der deutsche Staat von Freistaat Bayern: the German Freestate of Bavaria. Any Bayerisch who'd see his pic would raise an eyebrow.
Remember Authur's surname-- Pendragon-- for Excalibur's design details.
And twenty cents for a comic book? My Legion of Super Heroes issues from the 70s cost twenty-five! This title's oooollldd... don't bend the pages!

Aurthur and all his buddies were indeed real: one of the very first Celtic kings in the British Isles. But like Robin Hood, over the centuries the facts about Authur have been subsumed by legends told, retold, embellished and retold some more, a thousand-thousand times over. He has served our culture more as a springboard for romantic fantasy than any historic study.
But you *did* put a crown on the butt I see, as befits a royal blade.
If you want to bone up on Authurian legend, and see one hell of a wild Disco-era sword-&-sorcery movie, go get "Excalibur".

Conan enters the dungeon. The monster is grinning, holding a woman in chains. Conan and the monster starts to fight, beating the crap out of eachother. The woman just stands there, doing nothing (lazy, spoiled bitch).
Suddenly they stop fighting, looks at the woman, Conan says something like "hey, why do we even fight over her?" The monster skratches his head with a "I dunno" look on it's face. Then they toss the woman out some door/window and starts making out while groping each other.
I'm sure the sale would have exploded if stories like this popped up now and then. It could be Conan's gay twin brother on his adventures. "Canon, the flaming barbarian".
Hehe... What would Ron E. Howard have thought?
