Blue Chrome's secret
It took them a full day's journey as well as a good chunk of the next. But Kiya, exhausted from the trek, finally made it up to the top of the mountain alongside Blade. There, he could truely see the marvel of the village that he didn't even have time to explore his first time around.
Despite it's namesake...the buildings hadn't been coated in any sort of Blue chrome digizoid. Rather, each house despite their warrior culture was built around 16th century english houses. Whoever crafted them had plenty of unique talant that would rival that of Lyle's craftsmanship. "What...made your people decide to go with houses like this Blade?"
Blade remained quiet as they walked, making a praying motion as he noted the occasional Veemon, or Dracomon peeping behind buildings still under repair. "There were a pair of humans that came to this village centuries before I was born. And in honor of their sacrifice that ultimately led to their downfall we decided to remodel the village in the image of their birth place."
"You know your stuff! So then...where does the term Blue Chrome come from then?" Kiya inquired quietly. Occasionally waving to the young ones who would only give him a stern glance.
Pointing at one of the buildings, he indicated at the rooftop where something was shining against the sunlight. "We plate the rooftops of each building with the Blue chrome digizoid found in the caverns here. It aids in protection against incoming raids and attacks from the other villages...Should they take the cowardly way and attack from the sky."
Kiya tilted his head to the side, confused for a moment. "But...What about attacks from the ground? The buildings are vulnerable and isn't that why Daemon managed to cause so much destruction?"
Blade spat, growling at the thought. "We are warriors. and as such we are the only defense our village needs on the ground. The other villages do likewise. Which is why we fortify our homes on the rooftops, to prevent cowardly digimon from attempting such foolishness."
Scratching his head, Kiya was satisfied enough with that answer. Afterall, there were tribes in the real world that likely thought the same way when suddenly, a Veemon bumped into his back, forcing him to crash into Blade rather comically. "Ack...I'm being attacked!!"
Blade turned around, chuckling as he helped the Veemon up having fallen from his crash. "Hello there little guy. You outta be more careful. Where is your instructor?"
The little Veemon shuffled on his feet, looking a bit nervous. "Uhhm...He's over there, my Lord!" The small dragon type digimon pointed towards an Exveemon that was training three other Vee's.
Looking in the direction of the Exveemon, he could see that they were training in what looked to be a small fenced training grounds. Straw dummies set around for the young rookies to practice their Vee headbutts. "I'll walk you back to your instructor little one, if you promise to do your best."
The Veemon shook his head, hopping up and down. "I'd promise that anyway sir! Uhm...but Imperialdramon has been asking for you."
That didn't seem to surprise Blade, who simply gave the mon a light tap on the back. The blue Rookie running back to his instructor. Before Kiya could ask, Blade lifted a claw toward the Dracomon. "He's in charge of the village's defenses. and keeping every warrior in check. You could say, he's the strongest of the bunch."
"Huh?" Kiya tilted his head, following Blade's lead throughout the village. "Wouldn't he be the guardian instead of you then?"
"He can't." Blade said matter of factly. "He took on the responsibility of digivolving to mega. In doing so he can never become the guardian of this region. Well not in the sense that I am."
Kiya rubbed his head before smiling. "Uhhh mind elaborating for me? Why can't he become the guardian?"
Shrugging his shoulders, Blade led Kiya into the shrine of the village. "It's long been tradition in EVERY region, that the guardian of the great lords would be champion level and no greater. It's a show of faith that we are confident in our abilities even when not fully evolved, that we may protect the village just as well as an Ultimate or even a Mega."
"Hmmm..." Kiya nodded, understanding a little bit more now. "So then the Champion is taken into the Lord's care in the belief that digivolution is not always the answer?"
"Right!" Blade smirked, leading Kiya down the stairwell. "Despite him not being Azulongmon's personal guard. He was deemed the village's chief. In that respect...we are both of the same level of command throughout the village."
It wouldn't take them too long, the staircase through the shrine was shorter than Kiya remembered, but they finally arrived in Azulongmon's personal chambers. It somehow, didn't look quite right without the giant eastern dragon filling it's space. Sitting at the last place Azulongmon was spotted before he merged with Scav was an Imperialdramon clad in white armor. He ran a clawed hand over the floor and with a great sigh, turned in their direction. "I should have been stronger. In your absence it was my responsibility to guard Lord Azulongmon with my life."
"It was I who made the mistake, Chieftian. I never should half left my post to investigate the west." Blade stepped forward, the two warriors grasping each other's forearms.
Imperialdramon shook his head. He placed a hand over the Dinohyumon's shoulder. "You have a great responsibility ahead of you my friend. And Azulongmon informed me before his passing. You've come for the Azure Elixer I take it."
"The Azure what?" Kiya asked, tilting his head to the side, then shuffled nervously at the two dragons gazing at him.
Imperialdramon looked as if he wanted to ask what a Dracomon was doing in the shrine but he let it slide. "You're a friend of Blade I take it. We have few Dracomon in our village...but none of a green coloration like yours! The Azure Elixer is the final step one must take in his ascension to the title of High Lord of the region. It is a numbing agent that will allow him to completely take in Victorygreymon's data, and prepare him for the change his body will take.
Blade nodded quietly, scratching his chin. "It's a mysterious liquid that Azulongmon created at the beginning of his rule. It was part of the contingency plan in case things went haywire. After I take the Elixer, and we head over to Victorygreymon's shrine I will cease to be the Dinohyumon you see me as now."
with a slow nod. Imperialdramon motioned for Blade to step to the other side of the room. After which, the two lifted up a false bottom that took up half of the room, underneath was a glowing blue liquid, sloshing as it was unveiled. "Little Dracomon...I ask that you keep this a secret to the rest of the village. Only one who has endured harsh trials throughout his life can safely consume this liquid."
"I'll keep it a secret don't worry. And my name isn't Dracomon sir...It's Kiya." Kiya pointed out, staring at the liquid and looking a bit nervous. He could tell that something wasn't natural about it...and started feeling concerned for Blade. "Are you really going to drink out of this watering hole? I mean...Water is supposed to be CLEAR not blue..."
Blade failed to respond, simply kneeling infront of the small pond of the Elixer and breathed deeply. "I've spent the past ten years preparing for this day. While Lord Azulongmon didn't give me the COMPLETE details before his passing, I know what my duty is."
There was nothing more to talk about at that point. Blade formed a cup in his hands and lifted a small helping of the Elixer and drank his fill. For a moment it didn't look like anything would happen. *Cough* Blade rubbed over his chest a bit, coughing every now and then as he clenched his teeth. "That's some strong stuff...okay uhm...I think I have about...ten more seconds before I pass out so somebody catch me...and carry me down to Red Chrome village."
Before Blade's limp body could fall into the pool of Elixer, Imperialdramon carefully picked him up, sighing. "Changes will be happening rapidly on the inside. Physically and mentally. Help me cover up the Elixer then I'll arrange for travel to Red Chrome village via Monochromon."
It didn't take them long to reseal the Elixer. But carrying Blade out of the room made things a bit more complicated. Many of the villagers gave them odd looks, but then again, very few entered the Shrine but there was never a case of one leaving unconcious. "You mentioned Monochromon...I thought this place was mostly for dragons."
"It is! But we use the wild digimon down at ground level and tame them. We use them as runners to deliver news to the other villages." Imperialdramon led Kiya to what looked to be large stables with Monochromon munching down on buckets full of meat. "Give me one moment to hitch the wagon."
"Uuuh...Wagon? On a bumpy surface going down?" Kiya asked, a bit nervous.
Imperialdramon raised an eyeridge, before bursting into laughter. "The Monochromon use the tunnels throughout the mountain. You'll be perfectly safe."
Kiya didn't look too convinced, but he watched Imperialdramon hook the wagon over the Monochromon's body harness and place Blade carefully inside, resting against the far wall. "I guess this is it then. Thank you for all your help Imperialdramon."
"No. It is I who need to thank you Kiya. Save our digital world. Save it so that Blade's burdens don't have to be as heavy as they already are..." Imperialdramon spoke quietly, looking over Blade.
Catching Imperialdramon's gaze, Kiya could understand almost immediately. "You...have feelings for Blade don't you?"
There was a deep chuckle, and before Imperialdramon could respond, he smacked the Monochromon's back and it took off, sending them on their way off the mountain.

Hrmm, imperialdramon is a mega form of veemon yes but....in the original series it was only possible to obtain him through DNA digivolution. Since the digimon here and the digimon from other villages have a sense of independence shouldn't an aeroveedramon be a more natural choice?
That would be the case. However you're missing the fact that Omnimon who is also a Mega exists in this series and alao requires DNA digivolution as well. The fact that Imperialdramon exists at all means two things. That one-Their relations with the North are strong since they obviously had a Stingmon present and 2-The village was modeled after a human town. Meaning that some of their own culture comes from humans.
Lol. They havent though. Recall that RD created Omnimon at Zhuqiaomon's shrine. After which he reverted to metalgaruru and wargreymon to fit in SD and Kiya's digivices. In that sense somewhere along the line Jogress was performed. Also one thing to remember is that Tamers were in the North in the past as RD experienced. And Veemon and Syrus had come from that land prior to when RD made the jump to the past. It is all connected. While not necessarily the same veemon, other humans had been there prior to current events.
