Dameon loved books. He loved them so much, in fact, that he'd often spend hours at the local bookstore just reading. The chipmunk had a bit of a weight problem, you see, which didn't help his self-confidence much, so the bookstore is where he spent most of his time hiding himself away. It also happened to be the place he (literally) bumped into one of his favorite authors, Mars Reese. He hardly recognized him at first, though, since the gryphon had grown a lot heavier than his outdated photos let on. Well, after a few apologies on both ends, the two sat down and started talking... and almost immediately formed a friendship. Dameon found the grypon to be as charming and smart as he'd imagined, and Mars found the chipmunk to be delightfully cheerful and enthusiastic.

It wasn't long at all before Mars had invited Dameon to come live with him. With a little encouragement, the chipmunk started losing weight and feeling better about himself, and in return he helped the gryphon think up new ideas for his books, and get past his writer's blocks. But as Dameon grew leaner, Mars seemed to grow heavier, a combination of a sedentary lifestyle and the chipmunk's frequent pampering. Whenever Mars would take a break to read a book, Dameon wouldn't be far behind with a cup of hot cocoa and a bowl of MnM's, or a couple of candy bars to snack on. The two became closer than brothers and have been quite happy ever since. Dameon often goes to nightclubs where he dances and enjoys meeting new people, and Mars' photos are updated with every new book he writes, still just as charming, if not a little softer each time.
