That is WAY too cool ... I found mine on eBay for $260 including shipping. I think it might be developing a slight problem on the left channel, I have the output (in the rear) turned up all the way to keep the sound balanced, but I still love it! *three cheers for old school audio equipment* !!!!! SB.
Digital music today is compressed to hell. Most is mastered to sound decent on very small players where as vinyl is mastered uncompressed, sometime half the speed and at lower volumes to bring out all those wonderful nuances you don't usually get with a digital copy. Reel to reel, if it were not such a costly hobby, would be my ideal audio playback system. Climate controlled vault to keep the tape from deteriorating, maintenance on the playback machine itself. Keeping it demagnetized, cleaning, oiling of moving parts. It's a chore and I don't have the finances to do it.
*puts paw to muzzle and chuckles* ..... they are "old school" non portable music devices ... you put one of those ancient things that flat, black and round on the turntable, place the needle on it and enjoy rich wonderful sound, the other ancient device, you put a different round device on it and thread the audio tape through the devices playback head, press play and enjoy rich wonderful sound .... have you never seen these devices before ? *tilts head* SB.
Ferget it, SB! The Whyne Generation don't get it. If it ain't immediate and/or downloadable, it ain't worth their attention. They don't control their tech (like we did) their tech runs their lives... They should all break their elbow bones, and reset them so's they can better concentrate on their Prime Life Director I-Phones.
Maybe one day they will all be Geordi LaForge clones... ;)

Tascam is very good equipment, I would love to see it, you have a doggon museum in that house! Never could afford anything from them, I wanted a 12" unit when I was looking for this one but couldn't justify the cost of the unit and each tape, but I love it just the same ... *hugs my tape deck* silly huh ! SB.
Man... I use to have a Revox A77 some time back. Last time I used it was recording the INSIDE of a Bell System 355A step by step dial telephone office, -1984- some few weeks before it was cut-over into a 4ESS switch. http://www.wideweb.com/phonetrips/cdo834_3.ram Made with the A77 and 3 PZM mikes.
That was WAY kewl to listen to .... I remember when it took about 3 days to get a number dialed and you didn't get more than 5 feet from your phone, when you made a long distance call the operator would cut in and say "number please" and you would have to give them your phone number so they could charge your account ... boy how things have changed, how 'bout it ? Thanks for sharing that with me. SB.
