Yes, another breakfast recipe I found on an FB page; British this time. Just trying them out, they are all delicious, but some are more effort to make than others. It depends on what you want.
Bangers and Mash are a time honored favorite of British households. A banger is a small breakfast sausage that will often pop open when sauted. I have not found a true substitute here in the US, but any smaller breakfast sausage will be tasty in this. Of course, mash is good ol' mashed potatoes.
This recipe isn't for a specific number of servings, you will need to work out the quantities for the size of your breakfast table. More furries, more rolls!
You will need:
Puff pastry Rolls, frozen or home-made (I use store-bought frozen)
Small breakfast sausages (I use a local butcher's brand which is top-notch, fresh and inexpensive too)
Mashed potatoe (this is a good recipe to use leftovers in)
1 egg, beaten
a baking tray
brush
Start this by thawing the puff pastry roll to the point where it can be unrolled and handled easily. To thawed results in a gooey mess. While its thawing,
Brown the sausage in a frying pan, but remember don't overdo it 'coz you'll be baking it a bit more later.
When your pastry is ready, take a sheet and quarter it, so that it can be wrapped around a sausage with room to spare. You can roll the dough out a bit for a fit.
This prep work can be made a little ahead of time, just be sure to keep the rolls refrigerated until you're ready to bake/serve them.
Take a piece of the pastry, and spoon about 2 Tablespoons of Mash into the center. Place a sausage onto it, and put a big dab of Mash on top. Now roll the pastry up, press the seams together, and cut off excess pastry on the ends. Place your rolls on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Now get the egg and brush each roll with it. This will make a nice golden glaze on the rolls. To release steam, cut some slices into it, or poke some holes. (Cutting, Poking, it's your choice. I suppose you young gay foxes will prefer to poke)
When it's meal-time, preheat your oven to 375F. When ready, bake the rolls for about 20-25 minutes, then serve it up for a tasty breakfast dish good on a snowed-in morning. You might wish to provide some sauce: Melted Butter, Heinz 57 sauce, or to do it the proper british fashion, get some H-P Sauce.
