You get exactly one guess as to what appointment I'm not looking forward to this thursday 9.9
I'm willing to bet Little Rodentia is filled with filthy rich dentists. Think about it; who better to clean and care for your teeth than a guy for whom they're the size of a football. All those little corners and fiddly ends are certainly no problem for these guys. Or engineering ... rodents probably crawl around all the engines and machinely bits in Zootopia, making sure all the tiny cogs are well oiled and right in place ... *sigh* it's been a long time since I've felt this inspired.
Really happy with how Nick turned out this time around. His snout is that tiny bit too long, but I'll forgive myself for that, as I'm sure you will too. Mate pointed out the mouse nurse at the bottom is probably holding poor Nick's hand ... looks like he's a worry-patient. Honestly though, don't think he has anything to be worried about. Those pearly whites look right in order ;3
She's also been prompting me to start signing my stuff properly, so for all those of you wondering what that weird scribble in the bottom right corner is about, that's my signature ;b

Hope it went well for you. I have mine this afternoon ... doesn't help I had an almost sleepless night from getting an appreciation comment by director Rich Moore @.@
Both might be a distinct possibility, though I'm pretty sure the snow leopard nurse in the background will have a few choice actions to level on Nick if anything does happen. Probably some vomit aid around too for emergencies o.o

Reminds me of a book from my childhood - Dr. DeSoto!

Absolutely brilliant. Not only is the drawing charming, but I really like the idea of "Little People" who can specialize in doing small but very necessary tasks. Ever since my college years I've fantasized about "Mice" mechanics and trained ants who could do crude repair work on IC chips.
Well, it says right in the trailer, Zootopia is a city where predators and prey live side-by-side. I figure that has to work with a certain amount of trust and a littl ebit of courage ... then again, if the movie is to be believed, there's a fair amount of prejudice going around :b
I wasn't the only one who thought these little rodents in zootopia would be great at things like surgery, dentistry and general small scale stuff!
Makes me not want to be Duke Weaselton in need of a dentist, let me tell you.
I could see how THAT'd go down. Kind of like;
Dentist: Saaaay, aren't you that jerk who's on more then one occasion been running around our part of town causing chaos?
Duke: Ehm... uh... I wouldn't remember...
Dentist: I think most recently you used my cousin's pickup as a rollerskate. Whilst he was in it.
Duke: Errrr...
Dentist: I also seem to recall that you've come by here a LOT in the past. Considering those big cops can't move very fast through our part of the city.
Duke: Well, eh ya know, I don't wanna get caught f'course...
Dentist: Didn't you throw a bus at one of them once?
Duke: Erm... Youthful... mischief...?

Chances are they'd be mysteriously out of anaesthetic.

I'm in Austria myself and we only get to watch it on Thursday this coming week ^^;
I've tried to not spoil myself with the many, many, many clips they released from right inside the movie, so I'll just look forward to seeing that scene in magical animation and colors and voices <3

Well, it really wasn't that much of a spoiler.
But yeah, s'what my sister did. (Netherlands here.) She avoided spoilers like hell.
And to be fair, Disney really DID put like... three quarters of the movie in little clips on the internet. Not sure what they where thinking.
That and they released several books that pretty much had all the plot in it.
Mind you, I was utterly spoiled and I still loved the movie! Still love it too! It's awesome! You'll love the interactions between the mains, they're awesome.

Aside from there not being any crocodiles in this universe, even if there where... Crocs shed their teeth, don't need dentists so much as they need to get enough nutrients in their diet to grow new teeth.
In fact not even all mammals necessarily would need dentistry in the form we know it. (but might need it in forms we're not familiar with.) Rodents and lagomorphs for example... I don't know if it goes for all their teeth, but those big front teeth, they grow all their life, and need to be worn down by constantly gnawing things. If they don't do that, the teeth grow to long and have to be clipped.
Of course speaking of teeth in this universe, I did notice that there's a jaguar in this movie where when you get a look at his teeth they look very interestingly different from an actual jaguars teeth. Big cats in real life have two big fangs and between them six very small pointy comb teeth. The zootopian jaguar... appears to have what you'd get if you repurposed human teeth to look like cat teeth. So four relatively large flat teeth between two fangs.
Now I gather what would be hypercarnivores on earth (like cats) are meant to be more omnivorous in this universe anyway, so if they really designed it like that with that in mind, clever! That IS an omnivores set of teeth after all.

Saw the thumbnail and was reminded of a book I had as a kid :3 http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images.....4,203,200_.jpg
Of course on the flipside, when I had this idea myself and brought it up to a friend. I joked around about the dentist being a bit of a vore/macro fetishist, who according to Nick, was all to happy hopping around bigger pred mouths. (But at least he did good work.)
And hey ANOTHER friend I used to hang out with... I know SHE'd adore being a rodent in this universe. (Way to much I can tell you!)
Showed this piccy to my friend too. We both feel sympathy for poor Nicky looking so terrified! One to many... Well I guess minor spoilers, so won't say that then.

You're lucky. It's happened enough to the rest of us that it's a stand-up comedy staple right up there with airline food.

William Steig wrote and illustrated a children's book on this very topic back in the 1980s, called _Dr. De Soto_. Dr. De Soto was a mouse and his wife was his assistant. He posted a large sign outside the front of his office that read: "CATS AND OTHER DANGEROUS ANIMALS NOT ACCEPTED FOR TREATMENT." But a rich, well-dressed fox showed up with a ferocious toothache and pleaded for help so intensely that it was pitiful to see. Dr. De Soto agreed to treat the fox, but with special precautions.
