Been wanting to get this done for a while, so I've been doing these sketches inbetween queued work.
The evolution of UK!
Basically just all the different designs my main fursona has had over the years, with no dates attached because I honestly can't remember accurately so I'm just going to guesstimate. xD
1 - The lesser-known very first rendition of UK. Waaaay way back when I was merely a 15/16 year old smol one, just discovering the wide world of online communities. I spent a LONG time simply lurking Balto and Lion King fansites as a guest and google image searching fan art because I was too scared to join anywhere, and during that time I Discovered Furry.
I had literally no idea what a fursona really was, only that I wanted to be a wolf and I'd seen fan art of the white wolf from Balto and decided that was what I wanted to be.
I don't think this design ever really made it into any online galleries, it didn't last very long. Quite literally a completely plain white wolf with blue eyes, and randomly some blue crystal thing around her neck ... ? I've no idea what that was meant to be, I'm sure I had the idea it was some Special Magical Power Crystal or something.
2 - THIS is the UK that anyone who's followed me for years will recognize. Back then I couldn't draw anything if it wasn't a direct rip-off of Disney or Balto style, so she had these lines around her eyes that looked like eye patches but there was no difference in the colour. Just the shapes, because I was incapable of drawing eyes without them. She also got the red bandana, because I was incapable of drawing a neck without one, and sporadically black ear tips - she was meant to always have black ear tips but I often forgot - and her eyes got a yellow sclera because I was directly ripping off Disney style eyes. c':
Eventually she lost the bandana, but everything else stayed the same.
3 - When I had finally had enough of the bandana and was trying to break out of directly ripping off Disney style I re-designed UK to go along with it. She got purple claws, paw pads and inner mouth for a long time but sometimes it inexplicably went back to natural colour.
I was really going through some weird times with mental health back then and UK kind of surfed it all along with me. I kept fighting with myself over wanting a "Really Goth Hardcore Dark" fursona and my attachment to UK as she was, and the white wolf handle.
This is where Oìche was eventually created as a secondary fursona (not pictured in this) in the original design of black and purple straight from a WolfHome avatar. xD
This design lasted a looooong time, and was literally just a plain white wolf with no markings at all and the bright blue eyes.
4 - This is where I wanted a more natural design, but still a white wolf, and wanted SOMETHING to make UK stand out. Naturally, in any art of her when she was plain she got mistaken for Kiba from Wolf's Rain a lot or any other plain white wolf character and I'd gotten pretty sick of it.
I didn't really know what I wanted to do with her at this point, just a vague idea of the colours I wanted to use from natural wolf pelt colours and her eyes changed from the bright blue to a more natural icy-sky blue. All remnants of the purple claws and mouth were gone by this point, I was generally feeling a lot more like myself and that translated onto UK.
5 - The UK I'm at today!
She gained some more markings in those natural brown shades, kept the icy blue eyes and more recently her nose changed from plain black to a dark brown. The ear tips made a triumphant return too, in the form of a light beige instead of black this time. xD
I'm pretty happy with UK as she is now, she's still my main fursona and has been with me through an awful lot and will always be my main 'sona.
She's gained a few alter egos along the way in the form of the previously mentioned Oìche who's evolved herself from the original into a purple African Wild Dog with a love of parties, glowsticks and singing. King who's the black, white, grey, orange and red mutt who's into gaming. BanCat, an old alter ego who didn't really have a proper form, who's gone from a plain Asiatic Golden Cat to a Golden Cat/Lynx/Hummingbird hybrid thing thanks to an adopted design from WhiteSpiritWolf with a love of nature and the newest addition of StartUp the black & white Hyena who has usually-bright-green-but-also-colour-changing markings and hair with a love of dancing.
Quite an odd mixture, but then I'm kind of an odd mixture of things all rolled into one anyway, and UK will always be sitting at the forefront of them all.
It was fun going back over the old designs, thinking about where I was when I made them and what influenced the designs and art.
