anubiis_werewolf took part in the Helpful Macro project with this full color drawing of Cinnamon, my Na'vi/jackrabbit. I think this is one of Anubis's more ambitious pieces, what with all the background elements and the fire effect and all that, but he calls it a "simple shaded pic". :)For this one, the idea entry said "catching a meteor". Yes, you might be thinking that the meteor will just break up on impact with her paw instead of on impact with the planet. Or you might think it's going way too fast for her to catch -- but her reflexes are too fast, she would catch it! ;) (cough) Ahem, yes, so Cinnamon is a huge naturalist (so to speak), and while she's not capable of changing size, I lifted that restriction for this piece. She's naturally 14' tall anyway (related to the Na'vi of Pandora, who are a little smaller), and protection oriented, so she was a great choice for this piece.
Go Cinnamon! Save this planet! Don't let the universe throw stuff at it! (but think of all the GOOD things meteor impacts have done) (shuddup, brain)

The Helpful Macro project is, in a way, a tribute to Zootopia, but also a way to inspire fans, artists, and commissioners alike to envision worlds where sentient beings of radically varying sizes not only coexist, but cooperate. Macro works may often involve crushing/eating/destroying, and while that's great fun for many a macro fan, there's much more to be found in the theme than that.
This project aims to put the spotlight on alternate aspects of macro, because that is what I find most fascinating about macro art -- it inspires people to contemplate alternate perspectives beyond their own, not just artistically, but philosophically as well. That's something we all would do well to practice more often.
To celebrate the spirit of this project and the overlap with Zootopia's themes, I will be posting at least one completed commission from this project per day leading up to Zootopia's release on March 4th 2016. Keep your eyes open, and look out: macros about!
Most of my macro submissions have been friendly, non-destructive, and often helpful. I invite you to browse them, discover new artists to follow, and perhaps even commission them for some helpful macro ideas of your own. :)
