nyomi took part in the Helpful Macro project with this full color drawing of Rooth'roo attempting to rescue a passenger plane in distress! This isn't the first time Nyomi has drawn macro Rooth'roo - she took part in my Rooth'roo's Growing Adventures in Coffee also, with this piece (nearly full gallery of that series is here)

This town has special reinforced streets to handle Rooth'roo's macro tendencies. The mayor has been trying to push legislation to ban Rooth'roo from the city, but after this little miracle, I bet they'll give him his own little mountain! "Stay over there 'til we need you, and quit stepping on dogs!" ;)

Rooth'roo overheard the distressed calls of the passengers on his ham radio gigantic ears, and hopped to action, growing to an appropriate size just in time to catch this plane! Now, the thing is, Rooth'roo's not the smartest shed in the tool, nor is he particularly agile with things not involving bouncing. Catching this plane in a way that doesn't give 137 passengers whiplash, broken collarbones, or worse injuries, is going to take skill and dexterity, like catching a waterballoon at 90mph. You have to match the plane's speed with your hands and decelerate it on a ... oh hell, they have no chance. @_@

Look at all the little details Nyomi put into this piece! The sweeping perspective away and around the island has a lot of little things in it. And the populated parking lot, and the air strip markers, and all those little trees. Happy little trees! So very much detail.

The Helpful Macro project is, in a way, a tribute to Zootopia, but also a way to inspire fans, artists, and commissioners alike to envision worlds where sentient beings of radically varying sizes not only coexist, but cooperate. Macro works may often involve crushing/eating/destroying, and while that's great fun for many a macro fan, there's much more to be found in the theme than that.

This project aims to put the spotlight on alternate aspects of macro, because that is what I find most fascinating about macro art -- it inspires people to contemplate alternate perspectives beyond their own, not just artistically, but philosophically as well. That's something we all would do well to practice more often.

To celebrate the spirit of this project and the overlap with Zootopia's themes, I will be posting at least one completed commission from this project per day leading up to Zootopia's release on March 4th 2016. Keep your eyes open, and look out: macros about!

Most of my macro submissions have been friendly, non-destructive, and often helpful. I invite you to browse them, discover new artists to follow, and perhaps even commission them for some helpful macro ideas of your own. :)
