When I was sketching up
Tolstoy's gift I originally had the Siren in battloid mode but went with the fighter mode for the final pic. But I figured I could just post the battloid mode anyways^^ I have to say this was one of the more unique mecha that I have drawn as it's totally unlike any other VF in macross, still fun ta draw though :)

I like season 1 of 00--well, after about episode 12 or 13, when things begin to pick up--but I'm not sure what to make of season 2 based on the fact that the mecha fans I hang out with are... really really negative about Gundam these days. I need to actually watch it to form an opinion of it.
SEED had promise, but it really fell apart under the weight of popularity poll driven rewrites and the whole unlikable nature of Kira and especially Lacus, especially in SEED Destiny.

I'm fond of far too many mecha to narrow my field down any. XD I'd still love to get Cauldron-Born Omnimech, or a Destroid, and just ramble about in them. XD (course, that'd also have to include either unlimited ammo, or ammo that regenerates in the mech itself. XD energy-matter conversion and all that.)
I lost faith in the Gundam Series when they started taking the MSs from all the previous series, including their plots, put them in a nice still, then distilled them down to a freakish form of hybrid serieses. (I'm speaking of the Seed and Double-Zero series, which are rebuilds of older series, with freakish 'hybrid' gundams derived from the older gundams).
Sure, it's nice to see them using the 'best parts of all series'... but it means they didn't really do any thinking on their own, you know?

I know. The designs are different, but it still has the smell of the Gundam 'Meteor' project from Gundam Wing. (which itself was based off the original Meteor project from a prior series).
I'll still be fond of 00 for its designs though. One of my own friends saw the Dynamex gundam in a store, and bought it for me because 'it reminded me of ya when we play 360.' LoL. What with the sniper-rifle and all.

I am sorry to have to say this but this image continued to bug me, until I began to browse more of your gallery. And noticed that a large portion of your so called "original" artwork on the Macross mechs is far too similar and detailed compared to your normal work, to the official images released by the company. I am afraid I must now report you for art theft. Anyone who is interested in finding out what I have come to discover needs only visit

If you want proof. I am afraid I must now report this to Dragoneer, as you have claimed them as your own instead of trace work that you have done. I am saddend and very disapointed by this.

art theft? while it's true I used a pic of the metal siren from the macross 2 source book as a reference but I by no means have traced it I was only able to get the macross 2 source book in PDF format from this site http://www.macrosshare.com/search/l...../Miscellaneous *sigh* if you wish to report me I guess there int much I can do about it but I still stand by my stand by my statement that I did not trace this.
If it was JUST the 1MS image I would be able to let it pass. But almost every single mech picture in your gallery seems to be a direct copy of one from one of the various Macross and Robotech RPG books and widely available artwork on the net. I wanted to let it go, but the evidence against you is a little overwhelming.
Unfortuantely, the argument that you can't trace it because it's on PDF is completely invalid. PDFs can be printed and then used. I have seen so many of these mech images that you claim as your own on the web and in the RPG books. If you trace, that is fine.. But admit it. Do not claim it directly as your own work.
I'm sorry, this is none of my business, but comparing those two images it is clear it isn't traced. It is definitely similar, as it is fan art of that particular model, but it is drawn in with a slight different perspective, and the proportions of various parts are different.
There are a few minor differences, but that is not enough when there are a great many images in the gallery that do not match in style or design, as well as each being identical in pose, structure, color, and design to images I have personally seen on web pages, RPG books, and image boards. Being a very large Macross / Robotech fan I am unable to deny what I have seen.
I have already reported this to the site administrators, and it will be for them to decide.

I'm sorry but those "minor differences" are what make each image unique and artist defined.
I've gone through the web link posted above and through Zyotes gallery and have found many discrepancies between the images.
The picture above is just one example but it shows much of the artist actual talent. The legs, left arm and fins on the chest are just a small sample of things that are not traced. Previous images also have various proportions misplaced to an extent that it changes the shape of the Mecha. Take the previous image of the siren drawn for Tolstoy for example. The Mecha has a oversized canopy, inaccurate nosecone and improper sized arm sections. there is no way that, that is traced. Similar mistakes can be found on the VF-1 Valkaries too.
I think the fact that someone has called theft on his work is actually tribute to the skill and effort he has placed into drawing these images. I'll admit they do look similar to the originals, but isn't that the point of fan art?
((I apologise Immensely for ripping your work apart like this Zyote, but the proof that your a good artist is in the mistakes you've made in your drawings. I am really, really sorry! ))

I don't give a damn if someone wants to copy an image freehand or trace it or anything else in such manner. It becomes theft (even if it is a freehand fanart copy) if you claim the pose, image, and idea as your own. Had he once..JUST ONCE... Laid credit where the image came from I would have said nothing. There are a hundred artists on FA who copy or freehand other images... And they all give the proper credit to the original. And the moment they don't.. The moment they claim it was their own original work and someone catches them, they are called theif and a lot worse. I have been polite, I have been respectful, and I have not flamed him at all. So you should be thankful that I am not launching a massive campaign to have him banned from the site, because he is a good artist. It is the matter of credit where credit is due that has raised this issue and nothing else.
really, if thats the case I can do that all I have to do is edit the submission info and put the neccesary info, honestly I never said they where my designs, I just assumed that mostly everyone knew what macross/ robotech was and would clearly see that they where not my designs, any I guess I have myself to blame for that error, but Ill go into my gallery and fix the errors. Anyways Ill make sure to do that with the rest of my artwork when it concerns copyright designs.
All you need to do is list the source of the image you used as the base design and your ass is covered. I'm not trying to say you're a bad artist or can't draw or anything.. Quite the opposite really. You do have skill.. .It's just a matter that you need to make sure people know that you have used other images and redrawn them for yourself. Be glad some of the more..... Enthusiastic.... Furries on FA didn't get wind of this or you'd probably switch to deviant forever.
