“No one has ever betrayed me like that!”
As the designated Big Bad, Gadeth murders or hurts his fair share of people, but never carelessly or for fun. He does it to make a point. That’s so much better, right? (Just as importantly, if you kill too many employees randomly, you eventually run out of competent people willing to work for you.)
So here’s the handy guide for employees of the Curia:
Won't get one murdered by the dictator:
* Owning up to honest mistakes, he mostly forgives those
* Admitting upfront when one’s not qualified for a task
* Failure through no fault of one’s own
Will probably get one killed:
* Making stupid decisions or mistakes
* Lying about failure or mistakes
* Trying to shift the blame
* Betraying his trust (kinda ironic for an ursurper, but don’t bring that up)
* Being a smartass
* Not showing enough respect (stupid boldness does not impress him)
* Slacking off at one’s job for extended periods of time
Will get one killed horribly (e.g. having one’s organs liquified by Gadeth thinking hard enough about it):
* A combination of at least three of the above
* Making him look stupid by any other means
The poor person in the picture was one of his secretaries, one that served him dutifully for many years. Even when he began having his doubts about the dictator, more precisely when he learned that his honor guard were mind-controlled slaves, he never did anything disloyal. But after years, he suddenly found himself in the position to help the former captain of the guard, who was basically discarded and left to die. Doing so only required the breaking of all the rules, but there was not much time to think things over. Turns out, before his brainwashing, that captain was a Republican, but nonetheless, he was grateful for his rescue.
Dragging Darius Vitisaria into the whole thing was a necessary evil at the time (see: “Weasel”), and it was Darius who sold them out when things started to go South. Result: Darius got away, the former captain got away, and all of Gadeth’s rage discharged at the poor secretary who was caught in between. What happened to him is probably the most horrific thing that happened to any character in the whole story, and I feel bad just thinking about it.

Trying out that perspective plugin thinger was a pain in the ass.
