A race of intelligent insect like aliens, who spread their wealth of knowledge across the universe, the Shii 'Ahk were very wise and wished for all life to obtain the amount of intelligence they had. Visiting many planets, even our own, they sought only to enrich the lives of others. Upon their travels, they came to find a fragment of a meteor that once was part of the Gnaw Queen launched into space by Derroc. The fragment, though dormant, still contained infectious spores from the vile plant like plague. Fearing it would corrupt them, they sealed it away within a special container, and locked it deep within their hive.

Many years later, they visited a world of primitives, and taught them the ways of engineering and agriculture. The leader of these natives, sneaked aboard their vessel, and unleashed the terrible swarm of spores upon the benevolent visitors from beyond the stars. His arm tainted, he severed it and fled. After the chaos of disease, widespread throughout their ship, the newly mutated Gnaw Shii have a new purpose in mind. Their leader, Shii Prime, took the lost limb to replace his own lost in battle long ago. Now the lay dormant, rebuilding their ship, and stealing the occasional villager, for either food or some other sinister purpose.

Highly intelligent, they can speak to one another via hive mind, and can influence others via telepathy and other psychic powers. Telekinesis and the ability to produce barriers come natural to even the drones of their race, but only the Prime can manipulate others in their ranks. Primes can even go so far as to remotely operate and control drones, and force evolution onto them, augmenting their size and strength.
