The group finally gathers together again for their final battle. It's do or die at this point as everyone finishes their final lap of training. Will it be enough to prepare them for a world they are unfamiliar with?

The old world




Fang clanked around clumsily in his Gaomon shaped armor into the center of the Smithy village. He checked over his digivice to check the time. "Ugh...Well this WAS where everyone was supposed to meet after the week was over..." Suddenly he turned when he spotted Jesse speeding into the center of the village as a Jagerloweemon "Heh wow! You're the first one to arrive at the meeting place Jesse. I expected Max to be here first."


Rolling his eyes, Jesse reverted into his Loweemon form and dusted his arms and legs off "I spotted RD and Scav flying here via Coredramon so they'll be here in a couple seconds."


RD and Scav arrived a few minutes later landing and RD reverting to his Dracomon body, giving his wings a stretch. "Alright we're here."


Taking out his digivice, Scav called Lyle out who looked relieved to be back in his village.


Fang smirked, waving them over "You guys are just in time! SO how'd your trip in to the North turn out?"

RD smiled, waving in return as they approached. "I got my Mega form, I'm only going to use it when I need to, how about everyone else?" RD asked looked at everyone.


Fang smirked, moving his greaves infront of him "I've spent the past week forging and training with Smithy believe it or not."


Jesse stretched his limbs out, sighing "Been with Triceramon and Doru this whole time. I kinda jumped the gun and ran off without em."


RD cringed at that, already expecting the worst. "They might not be too happy about that" RD said remembering how no-nonsense the triceramon was


Jesse laughed. "YEah well...you didn't have to fight for your life the last six days. So when I had the chance to bolt I did." Turning to hear a commotion going on at the front of the village, he saw Flare, in his Agunimon form carrying Coronamon high in the air, pushing past a set of Leomon trying to calm him down.


"Out of the way!" the Agunimon shouted, laughing., leaping over a few of them to join the group only to faceplant into the dirt


RD burst out laughing at this spectacle, stepping back to avoid the armored human crashing into him. "You're just as energetic as ever!"


Coronamon wiggled out of Flare's grip, helping him up "Sometimes I wish he could give some of that energy to me!"


Flare laughed, patting Coronamon "Well...it looks like we're only missing a few more people." He cringed when he heard a deep throated roar followed by Triceramon with Dorumon clinging to one of his horns


"You could have waited for us! The portal won't open without the two of us!!" The masisve dino bellowed, steam blowing from it's jaws.


RD sighed as he looked at jesse "He has a point there Jesse we'd have to wait longer for them in order to get in the portal"


Jesse crossed his arms at that, ignoring Triceramon's death stare. "Even if I waited, and even if we were at a walking pace, we'd still have to wait for the others to get here before opening it."


Doru hopped off Triceramon and smiled "No harm done...You're not the first person I knew who would run off on his own." Doru smirked, recalling his past "So we're just waiting on Kiya, Blade and Max then."


RD nodded as he thought about what he saw at the temple himself, but decided not to bring it up for the time being "Yeah I wonder what's taking them....?"


Smithy stepped over, the group could see a couple of fresh new scars wrapped around his chest as he approached "I don't know about Kiya OR Blade. But the door to Baihumon's shrine has been shut since I delivered Max to him."


"Wow ok so maybe they're not done there yet? I was sent on a mission myself, I passed...it was....interesting to say the least" RD said nodding.


Smithy nodded "Baihumon is a thorough mentor. Given Max only had a week to unlock his full potential, I can only imagine the training to be more grueling than mine had been. Still given Max's status...and his importance in our battle, he'll stop short of perminant damage."


RD nodded as he listened to Smithy explain Baihumon's training methods. "I just hope I can help out, the last thing I want is to be a hindrance to anyone else"


Fang laughed at that, stepping over to RD "Hey if anyone here would be a liability to the group it's me. I'm the only one here without any fighting experie-" His armor started shining a bit as if in response to something "They're coming." A few seconds later, there was a small air blast as Blade suddenly appeared out of nowhere as a Victorygreymon, dirt and dust flying everywhere


RD blinked as he covered his face when the dirt and dust went flying "woah" Was all RD could say as he watched. Not quite expecting such a sudden entrance.


Blade sighed as he crouched down so Kiya could climb off of his body. The big GReymon rubbing the back of his head "Erm...sorry. I'm still getting used to this body."


"So you went all the way to mega? That's amazing" RD spoke while looking over Blade's new body, looking surprised.


Blade chuckled a bit "I became Victorygreymon himself is a more accurate explaination...It's still ME, but...all of his power, memories, even his vast combat knowledge are a part of me now."


"That's still amazing" RD nodded as this was explained to him "We're getting close to the endgame now, Daemon is forcing us to fight on his terms"


Blade nodded, suddenly going serious "I can sense change from everyone here. There is no small difference. All we're waiting for is our supposed leader."


Jesse laughed a bit at that "MAX is the leader? I guess I never really thought about it that way. Not from all the years I've known him.


" Fang grabbed Jesse's arm, smirking "Well would any of us even be here if we didn't MEET him?"


RD shook his head. "I highly doubt that, I was a wandering traveler before I met him"


Flare blinked "Now that you mention it, I'd probably still be running deliveries all over Johto right about now if I didn't bump into him."


Blade nodded "Everything goes back to the beginning of your adventures in YOUR world." For a moment, Blade and Smithy both turned their heads in the direction of the shrine. Bristles formed in Smithy's fur.


RD nodded, thinking on that. "Yeah and then we came here because something that came here could hurt us in our world"


Fang nodded "Right. But I don't think any of us would have been aware of it until it was too late."


Jesse started mumbling to himself "And I would have been swallowed up by the darkness..."


Smithy took a deep breath "You feel it right?" His answer was directed at Blade who smirked.


"Yeah I feel it. Though I shouldn't be able too. That's Baihumon's presence." Blade stated flately, taking a deep breath and crossing his arms.


RD blinked, disappointed that he couldn't feel what they were feeling until Fang stepped towards RD and shook his head, smiling "Don't worry about it. I spoke with Smithy for the past week now. Apparently each Guardian has the ability to sense the presence of the high lords. But it's strange..." He tilted his head "Their presence can only be felt in their respective shrines since they can't enter the outside world."


Smithy nodded, swallowing a bit "Yeah. While each of the lords are as strong as Victorygreymon or Zeedgarurumon. Both of their power levels are sealed inside of their shrines to keep it from overwhelming the village. He's coming closer, but I can't see-"


He watched a pair of tall bushes in the general direction, then blinked as he saw a pair of guilmon ears poke out, then Max climb out of it towards them, yawning "Oh finally! I found you guys!"


RD blinked "Wait did you get lost?!?" RD tried not to laugh at the little misshap.


Max blushed, rubbing the back of his head "YEah...the shrines in the middle of a thick forest...I guess I had trouble navigating since I've never been here before."


RD nearly fell over, a sweatdrop forming over his forehead "Our supposed leader has the worst sense of direction, hoo boy are we in trouble"


Max laughed nervously, scratching his head "Sorry...erm...but I'm here now." He smiled wider, looking a bit more excited now that the group was back together. "Oh! And Leo is back too! He's recovering inside of my digivice, learning to move about in a physical body again."


Blade tilted his head, bending down to look at the Guil. "Max...where is Lord Baihumon? He's not...outside is he?"


Max shook his head, smiling "No he's still in the shrine."


Smithy blinked, looking Max over a moment and sweating "Wait...so then...are you telling me that's YOU?"


Max tilted his head, sniffing under his arms a bit "What? Did I do something? I'm clean."


RD had to keep from laughing again, at least Max was smarter than Ash Ketchum by leaps and bounds, and in battle he was a master tactician.


Smithy sweatdropped, before chuckling. "Nevermind...Anyway Are you guys all ready? We won't be able to help you once you enter the dark network."


RD nodded as he looked himself over. "I'm all set on my end"


Fang nodded, smiling "I think we're all set."


Max took a deep breath before smiling "Everyone hold out your digivices. Err at least those of us who have them." Everyone started doing so, even Doru surprisingly, who had an older model that would look oddly like the ones Link and Syrus had back during RD's trial.


RD blinked as he saw this but again kept his snout shut as he held out his.


Flare was about to ask why Doru had one HIMSELF, but Max cut him off with a cough. A bright light enveloped his paw which transferred to everyone elses before sinking into their digivices.


Actually RD was also curious himself as he watched the light.


The light slowly dissapeared within their digivice, opening a strange new application on their screens. 9 dots appeared, oddly enough in their exact positions too "There's no telling what's going to happen in the dark realm so I forcefully upgraded our digivices GPS devices. It'll pick us up on it's radar as long as we're within a ten mile radius of one another."


"So it helps us stay together than?" RD double checked his digivice.


Max nodded a few times "It helps us find one another if we get seperated as well. There's one more thing though. And it pertains to how and what we do after this battle is over."


RD blinked, putting his digivice away to listen to Max's proposal. "Yeah I was just wondering about that myself"


Max nodded "It's been on my mind since we entered the tournament. And it was Blade's reaction to Jesse during our first interaction with him. The Darkness feeds on the negative emotions of humans AND digimon. We're all to blame, and in that neither species is more at fault...and there's no greater negativity than descrimination. I've seen it. Especially under Baihumon's Tutalage."
"That said..." Max sighed, clenching a paw and continuing his dramatic speech "No one species can ever hope to completely eradicate the darkness. There's nothing that can keep sadness, fear, rage or even hate from creeping into our hearts! No one species can do it. But two..." He put both of his paws together "We've been fighting it seperately this whole time and failing. When we should have been joining together. The only thing keeping us from doing so is our stubborness and the stubborness of our ancestors."


RD looked down "Teamwork is always a factor to defeating something.....but haven't we been trying it ourselves too?"


Max shook his head, thrusting a paw infront of everyone. lifting just two of his three claws, it looked like a peace sign "We can't be both at the same time. We are either a digimon, human, Dragon, wolf...it's all the same. Right now it's not possible, not in the digital worlds current state, not until we reduce the Darknesses hold and restore Yggdrasil back to power. I'm going to form a tamers guild."


RD tilted his head "A tamers guild? Wouldn't that be for humans?" RD asked slightly confused.


Max shook his head "It's not simply a tamers guild. When you think of a tamer, you think about humans. But There cannot be the tamer without the trust and companionship of a digimon. I want to bring our two worlds together. Build relations so that past atrocities aren't repeated. Blade's initial reaction to Jesse wasn't his own, but an instinct driven into him from the opinions of his ancestors who have had experience with humans."


"Oh? So what will this be then? For both humans and digimon?" RD was slowly starting to get it.


Max nodded a few times "Right!" He smiled "Right now...humans are eerie about digimon...I mean...back on the island I was raised on...because my dad was simply a Growlmon, I was teased, taunted and nearly killed on a daily basis. And HERE, digimon distrust humans..."


"Hrmm Some digimon do, others have shrines dedicated to them.....ugh same with the real world, your island I hate to say, is pretty isolated, most people wouldn't know one way or another about digimon" RD shrugged "But improving digimon/human relations would help"


Max nodded in agreement, sighing "Right. Which is why I think creating a Tamer organization would benifit both worlds."


Fang thought about this for a while quietly, then the idea dawned on him "That could take years though. And you'd be stuck in the digital world as an ambassador for those relations..."


RD blinked, thinking on Fang's point. "He's right you'd pretty much be stuck here while trying to set everything up"


Max nodded, smiling as he walked over to Jesse. "I already thought about that. Jesse you remember the pact we made when we were six right?"


Jesse blinked, the loweemon nodding carefully as he lifted up a hand chest height "How could I forget? We promised that we'd both study as hard as we could...I'd open up a police station on the island and keep the people in line so that they never mistreated others like you. And you were going to become a full pokemon ranger to make sure pokemon and people stayed in healthy relations as well."


Max nodded "Right! Well...my dream still hasn't changed, it just expanded. If I can help both worlds...not just the island we grew up on then...I'm willing to stay here and help build things up."


RD blinked as he heard this, before smirking. "That's a big goal you two have."


Max and Jesse both grinned at that, making a small fist bump "My experiences caused it. I never wanted other people to go through what I did, and Jesse never wants to see another child mistreated by adults. So we wanted to change our own slice of the world."


Jesse nodded in agreement, before sighing as he wrapped an arm around Max's neck, giving him a noogie, at which the Guilmon struggled to get out of his friends grasp. "Well if you're insistant on staying in this world after all this, then so am I. I can't leave everything to someone who can't read a map!"


RD blinked burst out laughing, smiling at the two. "That's all well and good but then who will help out in our world?"


Max made a goofy smile at that, Flare patting Max's head "I can't stay with you guys after all this...but with the spirit of Agunimon I can at least TRY to help out in our world. I think you'd be a good help too RD. Given how much further you've progressed than others."


RD blinked then nodded as he thought about this "That's actually a good point I would like to help"


Kiya smirked, stretching out his limbs as he looked to Scav. "We could help out in the real world too."


"Speak for yourself." Scav said with a chuckle. "I'm a traveling bounty hunter remember? But I suppose if things started to crumble in both worlds, then that would be bad for buisiness."


That made Kiya grin, patting the Agumon's back. "You know what? You're a hard dragon to read but I know you actually DO care."


Fang nodded in agreement "I'll get to work on a solution for communication between the two worlds. After everything we'll want to all keep in touch right?" He looked at everyone.


RD nodded, looking a little upset at the idea of losing touch with them. "I'd hate to lose contact with any of you." RD sighed as he thought about this.


Fang nodded in agreement, as did they all "Well then after we finish this I'll get right on it!" He grinned wide.


Before he could continue there was a loud growl from Triceramon "As much as I'm glad to hear you all planning for the future...let's worry about the present first. Is everybody ready? We'll only be able to do this ONCE."


RD winced as he nodded at triceramon "Well sorry I just had this bombshell dropped on me now and it's better to get it out of the way then wait until after we're all exhausted from the fight."


Triceramon nodded "Let's hope everything goes as planned. Alright...Jesse?"


The Loweemon nodded slowly, taking a deep breath as a huge black flame like aura enveloped him, as it did Triceramon. They both let the fires build up around them before they both lifted their paws towards each other as a wide beam of darkness intersected. thunder sounded loudly as a huge purple fog formed at it's center, stopping just at Triceramon's size and condensing into a smooth sphere


RD looked at the sphere in front of him, it reminded him of the blue fog during his trials. "So this is the portal then?"


Both Triceramon and Jesse cringed, keeping in place "Yes...It's not as stable as the one Daemon travels through but the destination is the same." Neither moved, save from the trembling of their legs.


RD blinked, but nodded. Judging from Triceramon and Jesse's facial expressions, he imagined they were putting their backs into this portal so it'd be wise to get in quick. "I'm going in first" RD set himself and then jumped at the sphere.


The others gasped, before jumping after RD. Jesse was about to do the same then looked at Triceramon "Shade...can you hold the portal on your own?"


There was a smirk from the dino who nodded "That was the plan...you'll need to be on the other side anyway for the portal to open up for you guys to return...so go on get out of here!" Jesse winced, before nodding as he dove in. the portal closed off shortly after. The group started flying through a great thick fog, falling to a surface that looked broken. What trees decorated the wasteland were grey and dead, it looked like a place nothing could comfortably live in.


RD cringed, the whole place was disturbing to him, his dragon spirit was also freaking out due to the place being it's polar opposite. There was no sun, at least...not the same sun that they were familiar with. Everything was tinted in a hazy purple, the clouds themselves were a dull grey as they passed above them.


Doru cringed as well, sighing "This place looks absolutely desolate..."


Blade growled, landing softly as he surveyed the area, dust flying up as his claws scraped the surface. "Only the worse of the worst could live in this place...The scary thing is...This feels like my old digital world..." The victorygreymon muttered


RD went wide eyed, looking at Victorygreymon "Old world, this was your old world?"


Blade nodded "It's the end result of what happened after the great war between me and Zeedgarurumon. Before Yggdrasil created our new one..." He spotted a shadow zipping past and blinked when he spotted a Wargreymon standing on a tree branch, what was more unsettling was that the remainder of the royal knights that was previously missing were at his side, all glaring menicingly at the group "Damnit...Hilt..." He muttered.


RD blinked as he looked at Blade. "Hilt? You know this guy?!?"


Blade nodded, growling softly. "Know him? He's my older brother."


"Wait what?!?" RD looked back at the wargreymon, then at blade, then back to the wargreymon "You don't even look related" RD's statement might've been meant to cause anyone or everyone there to facefault but with the glares nothing happened.


Kiya glanced at Blade, then at the Wargreymon, seeming to understand. "So this is the hilt you mentioned...Hard to believe he used to be the village hero."


Blade nodded, growling softly as he looked at the knights behind him "Our parents were two different dragon types...anyways HILT! What have you done?!"


There was a snide look on the Wargreymon who lifted a hand. "Oh...I'd tell you but the darkness has already decided to make it's move "Suddenly there was a mighty gust of wind, the gale started lifting everybody back up, flinging them into opposite directions "Damnit!! Everyone try to stay together!" Since RD was the closest, Blade grabbed ahold of RD's paw, and tried to reach onto Flare's who was close by before the wind started tearing them apart, flinging the group into four distinct directions with no known destination.


Scav winced, watching RD and Blade fly off, and on the fly, forcefully called Kiya and Doru into his own digivice before he too was sent to what looked like a great spire.


"D-damnit!" Max cursed under his breath, grabbing ahold of Fang's gauntlet as they were being thrown off into the distance. "Everybody remember your digivices!!" He cried out.


There was a wince as Jesse materialized his Javelin, and thrust it forward against the wind for both Flare and Coronamon to grab ahold onto. "You two! Stay with me you'll be safer!" He yelled over the great gale as they were sent flying upward.


Hilt's mane shuffled in the wind, as the royal knights behind him all looked dissapointed by their prey dissapearing. "Don't worry. We already know where they're headed. And with them seperated from one another, this will be easy pickings."
