[HELPFUL MACRO] Rooth'roo carries carrier -- by hornbuckle

It's rare that I get to work this closely with the artist. Not in person, but I mean, the pure quantity and quality of idea exchanges 'tween HB and I was way up there. Every time I threw some random thought at her, she threw it back to me two-fold and better than I had imagined, though in some cases, discovered on her own that my idea was not gonna work out the way I thought, and we just decided to dump it. So, conceptually, this was more of a collaboration than my usual commissions, but absolutely all credit goes to HB for transforming the concepts into awesome reality in her signature style!
Rooth'roo decided it would be faster to take this mostly finished aircraft carrier out to sea by himself. And no, I'm sure he has no idea what kind of crazy stress this puts on the ship. v.v Part of me imagines him crazy-gluing those planes to the deck like it was some sort of scale diorama of a ship to him. ;) But in truth, it looked better with planes on it than flat and featureless. *grin* There are some birds flying about, but at this scale, there's no way any would be bigger than a pixel. Heh!
This was a trumph. From the wet-fur look of the foreground paw, to the water spraying/dripping off, to the water features, to the wake, and minor nudge to that signature lined texture of HB's ... this was one damn fun piece, and I think it's safe to say that she and I both learned something outta this. Excellent!

The Helpful Macro project is, in a way, a tribute to Zootopia, but also a way to inspire fans, artists, and commissioners alike to envision worlds where sentient beings of radically varying sizes not only coexist, but cooperate. Macro works may often involve crushing/eating/destroying, and while that's great fun for many a macro fan, there's much more to be found in the theme than that.
This project aims to put the spotlight on alternate aspects of macro, because that is what I find most fascinating about macro art -- it inspires people to contemplate alternate perspectives beyond their own, not just artistically, but philosophically as well. That's something we all would do well to practice more often.
To celebrate the spirit of this project and the overlap with Zootopia's themes, I will be posting at least one completed commission from this project per day leading up to Zootopia's release on March 4th 2016. Keep your eyes open, and look out: macros about!
Most of my macro submissions have been friendly, non-destructive, and often helpful. I invite you to browse them, discover new artists to follow, and perhaps even commission them for some helpful macro ideas of your own. :)

Yeah, especially for something designed to be floating.
I've always imagined that being a macro and walking through our atmosphere would feel a bit like being a normal and walking through a pool. I mean, like, the friction scales with the surface area, which scales at the square of height .. so wouldn't the air feel thicker? And if macro enough, would you feel the difference in thickness between the ground and, say, your head? How strange would that be...

I'm surprised you're carryring the new Gerald R. Ford-class out to sea so soon, and not putting in overtime pulling the new littoral combat ships back to dock... XDDD they have glass transmissions, haha...
Lookit that giant wet fur! And that wet paw.. >///> ...in cargo shorts.... >////>
