no that was the terrible thing about it they used lika to test radiation from the sun the Heat /Radiation shield was Jettisoned after take off, Dogs cannot take as many Rems per Hour as a Human can.
Radiation has cumulative effects. the Count will go down given time and access to Anti-radiation Drugs. and if the Tissue is not Damaged by the exposure. High Energy particles are the shortest lived and low energy particles stay longer causing long term damage.

That work reminded me of someone I know, who has a thing for dogs and spaceships and so hehehe.

For some reason I like to imagine one day, exploring aliens will find her floating in the space, trace the source and arrive to the Earth wanting to hail the doggy overlords of the planet, as they seem to be the creatures advanced enough try to reach outer space
