Even after just seeing the second movie trailer where this guy is featured in, I really wanted to make a story based around him.
(But I wanted to make sure to see the actual movie first so that I didn't end up mistaking something about his character. :-P )
This is pretty much a Slice of Life/Origin Story about Yax, and how he came to be who he is today. (I am imagining that the "Zootopia" movie itself must be in present time 2016.)
This wont contain anything that would be spoiling about the movie, so I hope even all of you North American Furries that haven't got this movie up on the theatres yet will enjoy this.

Yax and Zootopia in general belongs to Disney.
(This first part take place back in the 1970s)
As the sun was rising up all over Zootopia a little 7 year old Yak kid was waking up in his home by the Savanna Central.
"Oh boy! A new day filled all kinds of fun stuff waiting to be happening..." The young boy said as he jumped out of bed and was just about to rush down the stairs when an angry adult voice shouted "Yax! Put on your darn clothes!"
That voice belonged to Yarn, Yax's very stern father, who was very strict with wanting his "old fashion" ways of living to apply to the whole family. (And that included for his child to not be around naked, even when indoors.)
Not wanting to argue with his dad Yax quickly run back to his room to get dress, all while his mother Yam tried to clam Yarn down.
"Don't you think you are a little bit hard on our child?" She asked calmly, to which Yarn said back "The kid needs to know what's okay and what is not okay to do! If we don't stick to our own way of living we might end up with a future where suddenly predators living next to us will be going wild again!"
"But don't you think that you are exenterating just a little bit now?" Yam asked, to which Yarn shouted back "I served in Viet King Cong, I know what I am talking about!"
"D-Dad?" A scared little voice could be heard, and as both parents stopped their bickering to look over they saw how their little son was dressed in shirt and shorts now. "I'm dressed now." He said to them.
"Good. Now you can go down and have some breakfast before you go out." Yax's dad said before pointing one of his hoofs in the direction to where the stairs was standing in a very demanding way, making the young yak boy started running down without wanting to let his dad wait for him.
"Aren't you just a little bit controlling over your own son?" Yam asked very concern.
But Yarn just rolled his eyes over his wife's worries and said, "The kid needs to be told these things to be sure he learns. I don't want my son to end up like one of those Naturalist weirdo's!"
Despite reading about it in the newspapers, hearing about it on the radio, and watching it on the TV (And hearing his dad complaining about it almost every single day) Yax hadn't fully understood what the whole problem about these "Naturalists" was.
From what he seemed to grasp it just seemed to be about furries that had decided to not wear any clothes anymore. Simple as that.
And still there seemed to be so much debate and protests both For and Against letting the Naturalists exist as a part in society.
For Yax he personally didn't see any problem with them existing. They had never really been bothering him in any way, and therefore he didn't see why they couldn't also have the right to be walking alongside furries dressed up in clothes.
As he looked at today's headlines and saw once again all of this anger and hate over the sheer existence of these Naturalists, Yax felt that if everyone was just going to be shouting out their voice about this matter then he wanted to be there and says his option too!
So after finishing eating his breakfast, putting away the dishes, and brushing his teeth (Just like his father had taught him to do), the young child was ready to head out and try to make a change!
Yax had heard on the Zootopian morning radio that a "peaceful" demonstration with the Naturalists was right now taking place at the Centrum of the town's square, and since he and his family was only living a couple of 100 yards away he could make his way there by foot easy.
Just saying a quick "I'm going out and a play with friends!" and then he was off! Off to try and help his fellow furry friends in need.
Once reaching the town square the young yak realised that things wouldn't be as easy as he had first thought.
Right in the middle of the square was about 100 naturalists closed up together, and probably about 1,000 protesting citizens of Zootopia that was surrounding them!
Even thought it was pretty hard to hear anything in a place where everyone was yelling Yax could see that many of them was carrying big signs.
From simple one word ones like "Natural!" and "Unnatural!" to more direct things like "Primal Freaks!" or "How Mother Nature wanted it!" could be seen being waved by both sides.
Looking at them Yax could see a very determined look in many of the adult Naturalists faces, as they didn't seem to face any of the critique of hate thrown at them, and instead just took and lifted the sign they where holding in front of them high above their heads. (In return exposing their private parts to the crowd which only angered them further, and was just what the Naturalists wanted.)
They also showed a lot of their primal instincts of survival as they where all standing in a closed circle, with the big adults keeping the small children safe.
That's what the most unbelievable part of all of this to Yax. To see kids just in his age on both sides of this, telling the other ones what was right and what was wrong.
Given both the big thick crowd and armed police forces that was making sure to keep distance between the crowd and Naturalists, Yax had next to no way of either helping them or being able to say anything in this loud mess!
Eventually something big happen and that was the arrival of the Zootopia mayor to the scene! (Who back then was a male Grey Rhino that was called "Steele" from some of his politic rivals.)
Having the presents of such a mighty attorney figure made the whole giant crowd go deafly silent, as they all was waiting to hear what his opinion on this was.
"My friends. When I was signing in to become the Mayor of the town of Zootopia, I wanted it to be a place where anyone and everyone would be welcomed. No matter size, no matter species, no matter if you are Prey or Pred, all types of animals are suppose to be able to live in harmony inside of this wonderful city's borders." He said, which made the small little Yax happy to hear, knowing that at least the mayor of the town was on the Naturalists side.
That was until he then added "And to do that we must make sure to get all of these naked freaks out of our city!" before ordering for the Zootopia Police Force to start forcing the Naturalist group away!
"Oh...Not radical." Yax said, completely in shock over what had just happen.
It was all going so quickly after that.
As the police force was trying their best to "Peacefully" force the naturalists from the streets, some of the protesting furries started to rush forward and get a bit more violent in their way of telling the nudes "Beat it!"
Pretty soon a full on street brawl had started out in which the police and citizens of Zootopia was thinking so at beating each other up, that the Naturalists decided to take the moment and escape without risking getting in harms way.
Yax decided to follow them and found out that they all had a campsite in the wild forests, just outside of the city limits.
As he was carefully walking closer to see what was going on he suddenly got a surprised "Hey!" next to him, that almost resulted in the small yak boy jumping out of his clothes!
"Oh sorry, did I scare you?" The voice said, now showing to belong to a small sheep girl that was one of the Naturalists.
"Just a little bit." Yax said as he tried to act like he hadn't got that scared by her. (But they both knew that was a pretty obvious fact.)
"Are you one of those clothed fellows from the city?" The sheep girl asked, to which Yax got a little unsure if to lie or not. (But being already fully dressed in front of her made it pretty pointless in trying to lie.)
"Yes. I am from the city, but I am not like those other furs! I want both you and all your naturalist friends to be allowed to go and live wherever you want. We are all animals after all." Yax explained, and as he did so the sheep girl seemed to be fantasying about him.
"What are you staring at?" Yax asked as he looked at his shirt to see if he had something stuck to it, to which the sheep girl just laughed and said "I was just wondering if you wanted to try out being one of us for a day?"
This made Yax a bit unsure about what to think. He had just said that he was completely fine with having them walking around naked next to him, but to have he himself be one of the naked ones? He had been in the nude at times in his home, but to do it in amongst other furs seemed a little weird. (Even if they are also naked.)
Seeing him looking a little unsure the sheep girl said "Let's do it this way. If you take and hide your clothes inside this bush then you can follow me back to our camp, and you can get to see how it feels to be a part of the group.", and after hearing this interesting offer Yax decided to say "Okay, sure. Let's do that!" before starting to strip off.
Pretty soon all of the clothes that had been on his body was now instead folded and in a nice pile in his arms, and just a moment later he was laying them to hide inside the bush.
He was now just as naked as when he came to this world, and standing here with a girl of similar age out in the wild nature was making this an even more "magical" new feeling in his body.
"Let's go to the campsite now." The sheep girl said as she took Yax hand and started dragging her newborn naturalist friend to what would temporarily be his "New Home".
Entering the campsite Yax had to admit it was not what he had been expected it to be.
Given how different they all got treated he had expect them to be living in their own weird ways (Almost like a tribe), but they where living a life pretty much like all the regular citizens of Zootopia. (Except without wearing any clothes.)
There was kids, teenagers, adults, and elders in all kinds of shaped and species living together under one self made roof, made out of sticks and leafs.
At first a few of them got a little suspicious seeing a strange child enter their place, but after the sheep girl insisted that Yax was a part of "another travelling Naturalist group" they all seemed a lot more accepting of letting him stay with them for a small visit.
For the rest of the day Yax felt like he was in another world. A world where everyone was completely naked all the time, and where nobody was judging in any way.
He tried out playing games with the kids, doing a few shores with the adults, and singing songs and play music with the elders, and all of the furries that he was meeting here was treating him such open arms and harmony to it all. (Plus doing it all naked was actually...very fun!)
It made him really wonder why not all of Zootopia (Or everyone on the whole world for that matter.) could be as friendly and openhearted as the Naturalists was.
As the sun was starting to settle down he realised that he was still the son of Yarn and Yam, and they where probably worrying sick about him now!
He had to quickly excuse himself from the group and thank them all for a very friendly and fun day together, before he rushed off to the bush again to get his clothes back.
As he picked them up and started getting dressed again the sheep girl showed up to wish him goodbye.
"Ah, but don't say that. We can always meet tomorrow again." Yax said optimistically until the sheep girl said "Actually no, cause we will all be moving on by tomorrow."
This completely throw off Yax's world as he said "Wait what?!"
"Sadly this is how it is. We are all just trying to find a good place where we can live as equals, but everywhere we have gone so far has only lead us to being forced away from the cities. We had hoped that Zootopia would be different, but we where sadly mistaken." The sheep girl said as a small tear could be seen getting made in her eye from having to tell all of this.
"So when you wake up tomorrow in your home Yax we will all have already started wandering away to our next goal. But..." She said before giving Yax a surprised kiss on the cheek (Making his whole face blush in the process.) and saying, "...I will always remember my small time with you."
She then had to rush back to her group and Yax had to walk back home, forced to know that he would probably never meet any of those kind animals again and that he could do nothing to help them or their situation.
Getting home very late now his father was (understandably) very disappointed in his son, and was demanding to know what he had been doing all day.
This made Yax very scared, as having to tell his dad that he spent the whole day with the Naturalists would probably result in him beating him or something equally horrible!
But luckily his mother decided to break in and said "He probably just played with his friends like he said and simply forgot the time, didn't you?" to him, in which the yak kid quickly said "Yes! Yes I did! I played for to long!" back to them.
"See? There was nothing more serious then that." Yam said to Yarn, who in return just rolled his eyes and said "I guess so..." before letting his son pass and go to his room.
Once back in his childhood room again Yax was pondering about the whole Naturalist situation, his own experience today with it, and...why his shirt was itching so badly?!
Taking it off he didn't notice anything weird with it at first, and that's when it later hit him.
His body didn't like the feeling of it!
Quickly undressing from his pants, socks, and underwear Yax felt his body in a whole new way, and realised that this was the same feeling as when he had lived with the group earlier this day.
He liked it!
He liked it so much that he was completely sure now. He was suppose to be a Naturalist like they where, and he was not going to be ashamed of it!
"Yax! Are you in there?" The sound of his father's voice could be heard from just outside the door, and that made Yax try to quickly put back as many of his clothes as possible before his father would enter!
Once opening the door Yarn found Yax sitting by the bed and reading a book, whit his feet hoof still bare!
"And why are you not wearing your socks anymore?" Yarn asked suspicious, to which Yax quickly improvised a "I thought it was pretty warm weather today, and wanted to cool off my feet."
Yarn had to agree on that this was today a very warm summer day so he just said "Okay then." before closing the door again.
With his dad gone Yax had to make a new promise to himself.
He was going to one day be full time Naturalist like the animals in the forest, but as long as he was living with his parents he would have to try and keep his clothes on. (Just to be safe.)
As time went on Yax grew older and eventually got old enough to move out from his parents house and get an apartment room.
Form then on he made sure to make this his own "Nude Lair" where upon entering no form of garment was allowed to be worn on his fuzzy body!
He did however have to get dressed when going to work (In a costume with tie no less, since he had only managed to get a job as a banker!), but as soon as he got home he tried to be naked for so long a day as he could.
At first he tried to still be very careful with not risking anyone seeing him naked from his window or when just opening the door to pick up his newspaper, but as time went on he started to notice how other furs was growing a lot more okay with seeing someone in the buff for a short moment. (But he still knew that seeing someone by the hallway to just pick up his mail, walking down the street to by grocery was two VERY different scenarios.)
Eventually that moment of life would happen when Yax got a call saying that his father had died from a sudden heart attack, a while he didn't have many happy memories about the old man (Or that he would have probably stopped calling him his son if he had ever found out about his secret life.) it was still a very sad thing to know that he was now gone.
And only a few years later also his mother was about to pass away, but in her case she had been sick for weeks and therefore Yax was able to be right next to hospital bed during her final moments.
Feeling that he wanted to be honest with his mother Yax was trying to find the courage to tell about his way of living.
"Mother. I-I have something about myself to tell you. Something that I might be a little bit ashamed to tell but..." Yax saying before his mother hushed him.
"Listen my boy. All you need to know is that you are your own strong identity. As long as whatever you are doing is a part of you, then there is never anything for you to be ashamed of. I will always love you. You will always be...my son." She said before feeling her heart give up, and then finally passing away peacefully.
Having now both his parents gone Yax was both feeling like he had lost it all, but also that this could be the start of him building his new life for real.
Maybe now he could finally try and fulfil that promise he gave himself as a child to help all the Naturalists to find their own place to be in?
As if asking for a sign from above Yax was shortly given a letter revealing that he had been inheriting a lot of money from which his parents had been keeping safe over the years, and having had that job at the bank for so many years Yax had been learning a thing or two about starting a buisness.
Pretty soon his mastodon project was getting formed into a reality as he was creating Zootopia's very own Naturalist Club, "Mystic Springs Oasis".
This was going to be a place where animals not wanting to wear any clothes would never need to worry about getting started at or judged by others. Inside these walls it would only be their own rules to be followed.
As soon as the final brick was in it's place, and the final contract was sealed Yax was standing in front of what was going to be his (and many other Naturalists) new home.
Walking around into the locals he saw that it had everything of that he had been wishing for it to have.
A big courtyard for everyone to meet and greet. Several different spa treatments, and big comfy rooms for where they could sleep in.
He also had a very special thing installed to work as a way of "Initiation" for this place, and that was what looked like a simple garbage can, where one dumped their clothes in and the put fire on to see it all burn away. And he was going to be the first one to do it!
Within a few seconds Yax had ripped the fancy suit he had been wearing when signing the contract with the current Mayor Leodore Lionheart, and was now watching it burn up in front of his eyes.
It had taken him almost all of his life, but now finally it had happen.
Yax had become a full born Naturalist.

What a neat story! I had fun reading it. :3 You did a great job! Not havin' to wear clothes and bein' all natural is great, and it's fun to see how others to get into it. And nothing wrong with sexuality, but it's fun seein' it without it bein' about sexy stuff too. :3 Great work! I liked the commission too.
