think of it orginal xcom during the cold war. in fact the game starts off 1979. the aliens landed in Iceland in 60s. before the UFO was captured it exploded. NATO and Warsaw pack made a secert agreement and formed the xenonaughts should the aliens return. You have more guns.. more explosives.. more types of airplanes.
Also you don't have to kill every alien on the map just clear out and hold the ufo for five turns.
