A pic I did for weatherman Dan Skoff of KNWA TV!

Original loco is an HO scale Rivarossi Allegheny. Shooping by me.
Interesting coinky-dink department: Dan recognized the tornado I used as the smoke coming out of the stack; turns out it's one that he chased back in 2010! Am I GOOD or what?

Looks like a 2-6-6-6 to me, boss...
Those big late model steamers are impressive beasts. Back in '09 the UP 844 engine was doing a tour, and I got to see it passing through Richmond, then while it was at rest in Oakland. What a jaw-dropping piece of engineering that thing is! Designed to be a passenger train engine instead of a hill climber, it was built in 1944 and really represents the pinnacle of steam engine design. The drive wheels are 80" tall, and it's designed to travel safely at 120 MPH. I had the unique experience of literally getting choked up looking at it. It's majestic, precise, beautiful, and powerful, even at rest. The very embodiment of the word awesome. No diesel would ever be able to inspire the feelings that a machine like that can.
