This is a mandela I drew during "Creative Time" (which is something the interns get involved with on Friday afternoons at the internship site I'm currently working at). In case anyone doesn't know what a mandela is, it's Sanskrit for "circle."
In this session, we listened to some recorded music, use our imaginations to come up with an image based on the music, and then draw it with oil pastels. The piece we listened to was "Pachabel Canon in D" (which included the sound effect of light ocean waves crashing onto the shore).
I came up with this image because the musical piece itself seems like it would never end (just like when viewing straight on into the depths of the ocean floor), and with the variations of the main theme, that made me think of how there is always something new and interesting to see (in this picture's case, the many sea creatures and coral reefs that the viewer may encounter when "exploring" the ocean floor).
