a commission from May last year for
spacesheepie :)
I liked the composition, so I thought I would share since I've barely posted any work in the past year or two...
Also I'm not that good at backgrounds so credit goes to Google for this one.
EEE I love it when my art doesn't make me want to totally rip my eyeballs out and stab my brain with a chopstick

Yeah, full of feeling and fresh indeed. Also, you take the time to point your character eyes properly, no matter what pose. Some artists don't do that and everything looks ok but their characters are looking at... I dunno what xD something in space. This is another little detail in your art that makes it look like everything fits together
Precisely! The most amazing thing I personally find about this however, is how you developed this unique look to your characters, which manages to bring out feeling very well. When it comes to feeling, it stands out, really, really well. This is also important, because it shows a side of furries which needs to get out there and be noticed for example (and it's equally important for furries themselves ofcourse). It's important for feeling to be easy to read, and make one, as a viewer, feel good about it. It's a psychological thing, when art makes people have complex feelings, it unconsciously makes them feel good about themselves, which gives a good mood, and not all people are able to tell some things if they're not obvious. And ofcourse, not all artists are able to make some things as obvious as you do. You're doing this because you feel like it needs to be there, and it can only be done from the heart. That's what they mean by "putting your everything into art", not necessairily the amount of details or some technique bits, these improve in time as your art matures, and as you become more experienced. The amount of experience that went into this piece however, is huge, and there are a ton of other good things I can point out like, placing your characters on canvas in such way that it goes perfectly with the view angle, and the view angle itself to make visible the necessary details needed for feeling to stand out, etc etc, but I find this really important!
Also, lighting and poses look so natural you don't even think of that at first, you simply sit there and enjoy what you're looking at. And yes, body language, your body language is another really well done thing in your art.
All in all, art gets older with you, don't rush it. Let it come naturally and trust yourself, because you know what you have to do, I know you do. Remember this is YOUR art, not other people's who caused you trouble in the past. They have no idea what it means to be a true artist.

Aw man, all the cuteness and friendship in this pic
Your color- and texture choice is super nice in this one, I love the grainy filter that looks a bit like either dust-in-the-air or scratches on a photo. Very cool.
Also you've made the two fingers of the goat-girl look natural.

A genre painting is a work that is basically anything not a landscape that showed a still in time. It usually has people interacting with each other naturally or doing their jobs. Kind of like how 'candid pictures' are. But, y'know, drawn or painted haha
That style of painting came about in the sixteenth century I think, right after the Renaissance in Northern Europe.
