A commission for Samuel-1925
I was really surprised when he asked me to draw his maned wolf character, Samael, as I've mostly seen him drawn by very skilled artists, so I did my best to live up to the rest.
As soon as Sam told me his character's backstory of being an archaeologist who sells artefacts on the black market, I got this image of him sitting in a cheap bar on a hot day, waiting for his next customer.
Working on this one was great fun, I enjoyed every moment of it, despite some tricky parts, such as the hands. The perspective is wilfully off at a few regions, as I wanted to keep the original feeling and atmosphere of the sketch.
I love the way the fake watercolour turned out, despite taking less time than the usual. I finally managed to paint, not screwing around with dozens layers for each colour.
Sam and I both loved the result, I hope you too!

Wow, this is fantastic! That pose is amazing, the way it conveys his anticipation and tension, to my mind he seems intensely concentrated on visualising how the next deal will go down, and how he'll react if it goes wrong. Probably my imagination getting away with me, but the art is so evocative I can't help it!
