After a small wait, here is a glorious piece of pony propaganda work by the immensely talented
blu_anubiz. Full disclosure this is very much inspired by the famous German communist party leaflet by German photomontagist John Heartfield. But with added elements. And of course this is something for my counter-Fall story series "Etiamsi Omnes, Ego Non."
Propaganda is power, more so when a small force fights a larger one. Papering an occupied town in such things would anger the fascists holding it, make them mad enough to make mistakes. It could reach those on the fence about running, make them leave to join the rebels, knowing there is a higher call. These would also be found in the rebel strongholds and redoubts and sanctuaries.
Why in there? Because it is one thing to bring the starving, suffering and ardent into the warring fold, it is a far different thing to keep them there. They need propaganda too, perhaps even more than the enemy needs it used against them. Morale, simple mental strength and steadfastness, needs cultivation and maintenance. More important than most elements, to link back to that old, not-yet-dead Equestria of the old world, the socialist welfare state, this reminds the rebels and refugees they are not alone. Six are one, Generosity, Kindness, Loyalty, Honesty, Laughter, Friendship, all Harmony. Concordia. Ponies suffer as much as other species, all suffer together. All are one against the blood-soaked fascists and all must pull together, to be the hands that hunt and the hands that heal, to bring to birth the old world from the ashes of the new. As the old gallows quip goes, they all hang together or they will all hang together.

Ah, that explains it. One of the problems I have with writing non-anthro fics is that you never realize just how much hands are used in symbolic and figurative speech. I had that problem when I was thinking up the cover of a 'zine for Mayor Mare to print in her younger, anarchist days and I realized that so much of "fight the power" iconography relies on fists, raised, clenched or otherwise. I particularly wanted to find a replacement for the raised fist, but was unable to. I think I went with two horseshoes arranged in a "kick to the face"-position.
I... haven't actually considered that. The hand to hoof substitution is fairly common, but it didn't occur to me that horns would have a similar semiotic function to Unicorns. I suppose it'd make sense to call a unicorn who makes skilled use of their telekinesis a very "horny" unicorn, then...
The most extreme change was to create an archaic term (vaguely applicable to the modern day) called "cornuscripts" which is, yes, manuscripts written via horn, using a similar Latin construction. I also tried to replace terms in foreign language situations, such as Luna relishing a verbal "coup de patte" rather than coup de main.
One word I have trouble finding a deliberate substitution for is "handwriting", hoof-writing is often used, but makes no sense as they generally use their mouths, and "mouthwriting" just sounds odd to me. Cornuscript is good, but only works for unicorns. (I guess "oroscript" would be the earth pony variation?)
