This is a story about, Harvey, a tiger who has lived a very tough and painful life.
Sadly, between work and life, I've felt my writing energy drained and muse gone silent. Yet, I began to notice a few things on the internet about how tigers and other big cats were being treated out in Asia and throughout the world. Then one day I was really moved to write this story.
At work, during breaks and free moments, I scribbled notes on a sheet of paper. Then at other moments I was hurriedly typing on my iPad. Once home that day, I let it all flow out of me and I rapidly finished the story. Finally, when I found the time, throughout the week, I edited and re-edited the story.
Keep in mind, while you read this story, it is based on real events. Whether tigers are self aware or not, like Harvey, may be debatable. However, what is not is how he was treated. Many big cats go through similar stuff like he did.
If you see a photo of a tourist in Asia or Africa posing with a live sedate big cat, most likely it had gone through similar things as Harvey. If, you see a tourist holding or feeding a tiger cub, know there is a good chance that cub was ripped from its mother.
Big cats are meant to be wild and free not tourist attractions. So see them in wild preserves and zoos. Don't be enticed to going to a tourist trap that participates in abusing and hurting tigers.
