This was drawn before I saw the movie - so no spoilers! And uh, look out below in case anyone comments something spoilery if you haven't watched it yet.
Basically I saw some fans complaining about people shipping these two as a romantic couple instead of as friends, and that's plain dumb. Do what you want. Pair together who you wanna. But free and enjoy yourselves, they're just cartoons.
But let's say we can't do that and we gotta decide - fine, you could label them as friends, and just say they have a purely sexual relationship. Everyone happy now? ;3

My only complaint with the ship was that people were using Nick's "You know I love you" line as proof that it's canon. Even though he clearly didn't mean it that way, and said the same thing to Flash earlier. Granted, this was back before the film hit theaters and this was all based on the novel....
I think it's a cute ship, both romantically and platonically. I think I like your idea for it better than them actually being a couple, though; Nick feels to me like the kind of guy who would be happier with casual relationships and flings than something serious.

Oh, was that part put in one of the trailers or something? :O
I think it's cool having them as just friends and left open and ambiguous. When I heard the "I love you" at the end I was like, "Uh oh, now that's going to confuse everyone." Because as much as lots of us can say I love you to friends, puttin' that in the movie is gonna open the door for people enterpreting it as more - since even I thought it was like a jump to the future where maybe they've bonded and even become closer. It's not really proof, it just seems like a confusing add-on B)
But I like them with any kind of relationship! I just got annoyed with people being stingy about how others ship them. ;P

I could get into a very deep thinking thing about the whole "they're just cartoons" bit (basically with any kind of story/possibility/universe, book, cartoon or film or any kind of story or communicative medium) but I don't want bore anyone or drag anything out.
Though to be quite honest, while I like and do go for both of them being friends or a couple, either one shows they both respect and love one another, I like them as a couple a bit more. They just fit so well.
I haven't seen Zootopia yet, but I'm hopeful it's a blast!

Just letting my mind run wild on this one... Can a sexual couple exist? If a couple's relationship is purely sexual, does it still qualify as a couple? I mean, there would be no emotional bond that prevents you from just going and screwing with someone else, somewhat undermining the whole couple idea. On the other hand, if infidelity is not acceptable, then that would imply there IS a bond beyond the fucking, because why care otherwise? In that case though, the couple would not qualify as purely sexual anymore.
Man, I am wayyy overthinking this.

Haha, I hadn't thought too much about it! But you'reright, it'd have t be either one or the other, and if it is one, then it'd be tough to say why they don't want the other fucking anyone else. BUT actually my second idea as to why is just safety and disease prevention and stuff, so maybe they just want a solid clean sex partner. But they're also good friends - so maybe it's like if you have a D&D group, and your friend wants to play with another D&D group, you still might feel weird about it even if you two aren't in love? Haha, I'm not sure but there is a lot of interesting stuff there to be curious about. :O
Sexuality doesn't need to overlap with romance at all and vice versa, that's what I think at least. You can have a soulmate and still want to get all funky with others! B) ...provided said soulmate is aware of it, that is. I don't know if I ship them or not, but they're adorable either way. You draw them adorably. Hope I didn't miss much considering I'm on a tumblr break!
