Kind of stinks that they couldn't keep him correct to the original tv series. VW wouldn't let them use the beetle in the movie, hence why you see his door whack the beetle over when the dad brought to the kid to the car lot.
BUUUUUT. I think it was for the better that they used a beat up late 70's Camaro, then switched him to (at the time) the 2010 Camaro concept. He'd look a little bit too girlie compared to all of the others if they stuck with the beetle anyway.

Only things I didn't like for actual change was they turned Megatron into some stupid jet thing instead of keeping him a huge pistol gun. They changed Optimus Prime into a long nose rig instead of keeping him a cab-over like in the cartoon. But they had to do that to make it more believable as to where his componets were stored for transforming. As for Soundwave, I personally hate how they turned him into some stupid iPod, made him act like a psychotic child doped up on tons of sugar instead of keeping him "intelligent" looking like is is in the cartoon nor did they keep his cool voice. And for Devistator it sucks they didn't keep him all massive and uniform with keeping the Constructicons. But atleast they made him into some big ass tank.
Aside from those annoyances the movie was rather awsome. I'm hoping they have a second someday.

Well. In the cartoon, being it was made in the 80's Soundwave was a walkman cassette player and when needed he shot out cassette tapes that were helpers, one being a cat, a bird and one little dude named Rumble because he had big hydraulic hammers for arms.
The as for the Constructicons. They were a group of six different construction vehicles that all hooked together as one to form Devastator which was a rather massive robot. Do a google search sometime and take a peek. You'll find what most of the characters were originally interesting.
