Pretty simple really. A five gallon bucket of fresh water. an empty 5 gallon bucket for waste. My dark box, chemicals and a tarp in a hatch back.
The one thing that most people would not have is a travel tank for the silver. I splurged on a Lund dip tank: http://www.lundphotographics.com/cg.....&key=TT003

I also have a set up i built for cons and when I have to go more than 100 yards from the car.

Heh I think you're being humble! Though the equipment is what is preventing me from exploring the technique further. Briefly looked into, well not briefly more like a year, of R&D on dry plate techniques which lead me to ambrotypes. Sort of went off on a tangent from there to look for something more in line to my needs. It is how I found the idea of doing alt printing on glass like Cyanotypes.

Those were my first, "dry plates" I've created using Cyanotype Emulsion on glass. One day I'll do wet plate, gotta put my old polaroid Land Camera to use somehow aye? Wet Plate looks like the closest thing to instant film we have anymore!

Why do I know that name? -googles- Ah, she did the angel pic I've seen around. Pictorialism might be a fun era to explore, it is sort of like still life with actual people in it haha. I know some pictorial influenced folks who swear by Gum Bichromate to accomplish their pictures. Haven't really explored that area myself but it does look like an easier process, in terms of what you need, than metal prints.
You should make some glass negatives! Delve deeper into the old! The assimilation process has started!
But enough silliness, I've been following a glass plate photographer named Borut Peterlin on youtube. Worth taking a look if you want to transition into Ambrotypes, etc.

Shots like these and others I just faved really make me want to do what you are doing. As I collect period items, and live in older house, and have done Civil War reenacting, I do not know why I haven't looked into this more years ago. The only thing that scares me is the mercury lamp in developing.
These are tin types, no Mercury required see:

You're thinking of Daguerreotype, another process altogether.
