Taken early one morning, actually got up at 3am to drive out to this senic location at an aptly named place called Sunrise Point. I actually caught it just as the sun was coming up, but those shots sadly didn't turn out as I had hoped. here's another one from that day no less majestic in grandeur.

That location is easily accessable by car, truck, bike, you name it, just get there EARLY and be sure to tank up at the tiny town of Clearwater. Thats the last Gas station for a LONG time. As I've heard from friends whom made a similar bike trip, it was well worthwhile picking up fuel there, one of my friends had to coast much of the way to the next station, other side of Chinook Pass. Than again he just had a little crotch rocket sport bike that wasn't meant for the long haul's like a good hog was more built for.
Going up to Sunrise the road is WINDY and completely loaded with hairpin turns, You'll have to keep on the throttle much of the way due to the grade, don't over do it though or it will be 1 harley vs cliff face or tree=SPLAT Much of the roadway has NO guardrails and virtually no shoulder. If you're at all afraid of heights its a trip that will make you cringe! Have FUN!
Neither actually, its a part of the Cascade Range, Its somewhat of an intercostal mountain range that helps to seriously influence the weather patterns in our area. Western Washington is green and rainy because of it, and Eastern Washington is drier and less rainy due to the clouds dumping all their rain on our side of the mountains. It is what gives Seattle its rainy reputation. From Seattle you can see Mt. Rainier, and on really clear days you can also see Mt. Baker, which is just about in my backyard these days.
