This is my first story about Zephyr Serpentine, the blue and black, 28 foot long Boa Dragon Anaconda hybrid, otherwise known as a Boadragaconda. Here he solves the issue of finding a new branch and gets a snack along with it.
Zephyr awoke to a loud crack, he slowly raised his head to see where the noise came from. Then suddenly the branch he was sleeping on, broke. He plummeted at least 10 feet before landing in a briar patch that was underneath his branch. He quickly gets himself out of the briars and looks at himself. His tough scales didn’t allow any briars to penetrate his hide, but he sure was startled by the rude awakening.
“I don’t think I should’ve eaten that deer last night.” He looks at his midsection, an obvious bulge still visible. His neighbor, a blue jay, was evidently watching while Zephyr was experiencing this conundrum and flew down to make fun of him.
“Hey Zeph, you finally realized you need stop eating? Pretty soon you’ll be breaking entire trees! Hahaha!” Zephyr hisses at him, bearing his inch long fangs and the bird flies off, startled by Zephyr’s sudden outburst.
“That stupid bluejay, he’s always so loud, disturbs me when I try to take my naps or sunbathe. Oh, I’ll get my revenge on him someday.” Zephyr looks up into the tree, looking for a bigger branch that will serve as his replacement. He see’s the bluejay’s big, oversized branch that only he lives on. “I think that day has come.”
Zephyr, using the many branches the tree offers, works his way up onto the branch that the bluejay lives on and pushes his nest off the branch to make more room for himself. He then curls up on the branch in his normal napping position. Minutes later, the blujay flies back, carrying some twigs in his beak to finish his nest with. He was quite surprised with what he found, Zephyr was laying there on HIS branch. He was furious!
“Hey! Where’s my nest and what are you doing on my branch?!” Zephyr calmly raises his head and looks at him.
“I was just looking for a new branch, and your’s seemed to be the best one. It’s far better than the last one I had, it’s sturdy, with lots of room, and has a great view with plenty of sunlight.”
“I’m glad you like it” the bird’s tone changes “Now get off, your free trial is over!”
“No, I won’t. You’ve had this branch for long enough, it’s better suited for me.”
“If you take my branch, then where else am I supposed to go?”
“Over there, on the other side of the tree, there’s a perfect branch for you.” Zephyr gestures with his tail to the tiny, flimsy branch on the other side of the tree
“No!! I’m not going over there, I’m going to have my branch whether you like it or not!”
“Okay, I can do that!” Zephyr smirks, then uses his lightning fast reflexes to pluck the bluejay out of the air. He then proceeds to swallow the bird whole...alive. Due to Zephyr’s size, the bird goes down quickly; passing out on his way down Zephyr’s throat due to trauma and the bleeding caused by Zephyr’s many sharp fangs. Zephyr burps up a few feathers and proceeds to happily sleep him off, finally getting some peace and quiet.
