I like the idea of a technologically-advanced blade maker integrating motorized functions into their creations. In this case, the large 'bolt' at the top of the scabbard sinks in to lock the blade in place, and pops out to allow the blade to be drawn when its wielder triggers it. For one of the androids, it would most likely be somehow connected to their computer system so they could activate the scabbard's functions as if it were a part of their bodies.
