Figured out how to make turntables in Zbrush and then convert them to SWF. Hope you all like it!

Hairline seems too sharp and even - Should probably break that up some. And the skin could use some more bump and texture detail, and for that matter, maybe some tweaks here and there, to break up the symmetry. Most of that depends on the style and degree of realism you're going for, though.
The actual modeling seems just about perfect, at least to the extent that I'm able to judge that. Did you model this from scratch, or work with a base-model? Also, how exactly did you do his moustache?
Very impressive work, overall!

Thanks for the crit! First I'll answer your questions.
Yes, I modeled this from scratch. I have a base mesh that I made from scratch that I use and edit from time to time to do Zbrush sketches. I modeled it in XSI. If you go to the scraps section here you will see the topology.
The mustache started out as a low poly shape that approximated the shape I wanted. I imported it into Zbrush and subdivided it and sculpted all the grooves in it so it looks more like a mustache. Then I made a custom Matcap material for it and tinted it a brown color. That's it.
Now to address your crit. I agree with all of it. This is only about 2 hours of work as far as detailing is concerned. There really isn't a texture. In Zbrush you can color the individual polygons a color. When the geometry gets super high poly each poly is so small that they look kind of like a texture. This was one of my first real attempts/experiments at using the color polys feature. Plus his skin shader I made was still in progress. I need to update him and keep working on it. In this state I think of this more as a sketch. Or a Zbrush sketch. He is still completely symmetrical and the hair was kind of a half ass attempt. I definitely need to rework it. Hopefully some time very soon I will and then post an update. This post of the 3D turnaround came about because I figured out how to make a turntable animation in Zbrush and then export it to SWF format. I was so excited that I started making them of all my models. LOL. So I wanted to at least share 1 here. I posted another one at my deviantart.
I am glad you like this one so far!

Ah, so the modeling is all yours? Even more impressive then! When you say "sketches", do you mean quick 3D portraits? If so, maybe you could post some more of those.
And the moustache turned out great. Good looking hair ( or facial hair ) seems to be one of the hardest things to accomplish in 3D media. :(
Anyhow, I'm looking forward to your future 3D posts - They're a welcome change in content and media, from the usual posts around here.
By the way, what's your dA address? I don't remember if I'm watching you there.

Hair is a very difficult thing to do in 3D. It takes allot of time to get it right. This one turned out way better than I thought it would.

you know, you probably get this alot but for not being furry whatsoever you do some awesome modeling work X3 Especially from scratch! I see the time saving advantage when you use something like Make Human and edit the base mesh from that but... there's just something better about doing it from scratch yourself. It's like how I appreciate and prefer to draw animation all by hand instead of using flash movie clips and such.
