A gray wolf is intimidated by the big city and its inhabitants, feeling shameful of his origins. Originally this told of how Gray felt unimaginative compared to multicolored animals around him, but I think eventually replacing "animals" with "skyscrapers" made for more interesting options. Maybe that will be another poem.
Those of you whom I saw at the diner meet last Friday might remember me working on this between forkfuls of Belgian waffle topped with vanilla ice cream and strawberries (which, by the way, was delicious). The first two lines are essentially the same, maybe one or two words were changed, but the rest of it was rewritten.
For our creative writing course, we were supposed to take a concept or an abstraction like War or Love, come up with an image showing that, and work our way from there. This one was supposed to be anxiety or fear or something, I can't remember, but I'm fairly sure it's been mutated now.
The title might change, since I've done a couple of poems titled "The F Word", but it's the first one that popped into my head. I'll add this to scraps and link the two when I've submitted the final version.
As always, comments and constructive criticism are welcome. Enjoy!
