Acrylic wash commission for
chakat-whitetail :)
Worked into the paint layering a bit further than I do my at-con acrylic washes. I also learned a bit about guns in the process of drawing this!

Ah yes, a classic rifle, the (in)famous M1 Garand. A bit of World War II lore behind the rifle for those with an interest; when the last round in the magazine was fired, the internal clip that held the rounds together would eject from the magazine with an audible and very distinctive 'ping'. The legend behind the rifle is that Japanese and German soldiers quickly learned of this and began to use it to their advantage, pressing their attacks when they heard the sound, because the Americans were now reloading. But American soldiers quickly turned the tables, throwing empty clips against rocks to mimic the sound to lure enemy soldiers out of hiding.
Of course, the entire story is an urban myth, however believable it might sound. Surviving veterans on both sides of the war have testified to numerous reasons why it wouldn't have happened.
Random historical fact of the day aside, this is a nicely done piece. You can never go wrong with Chakats.

Ah, that would explain the hand position. Well I feel a bit silly now. Doesn't help that the bloody things are virtually identical in appearance aside from a few small differences. I knew there was something off about an M1 having an extended barrel, but I figured it for a custom rig like I've seen before.
