Corebook artwork for Endless Realms, a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.
One of the magic illustrations I was assigned - I've always sort of wanted to do an arcane circle-type image, so it was fun :)

                    Thank you!
No, the idea was to do different things for each type of magic - for instance, Order magic as a shield - rather than various different arcane circles. Sorry! I did do one for elemental magic, but it's more a "wheel" with all of them than focusing on one particular element.

Heh, sure thing! I just used the pen tool :) Once you've created your path, make sure your brush tool is set to the settings you want, then use it to Stroke Path - it'll apply that brush along the path you just made. So if you set your brush to 100% opacity and it's a hard solid brush, it'll come out nice and crisp! If you want it to look all ragged and choppy, just pick a good rough texture brush instead :)

Thanks a lot :) I have no idea how or if it would be used in the game - it was just one of the suggestions made by the art director - I tried to come up with different images or ideas for each type of magic, and of all the kinds of magic, astral seemed the one that a magic circle best fit - all about the secret workings of time and space and the grand scheme of the cosmos.
As for the lettering, I'd normally have made it all up myself, but since there was so much of it that needed to be done, I just used a font instead. Plus the art director is paying by the hour and generally doesn't like images costing much more than $100-200/piece, so I try to be fast as well as good :b
