Because if you're making your character a love letter to Final Fantasy IX, go all the way.
I started a new tabletop campaign (13th age) and finally had the long-awaited chance to bring Simon back into action. It's a big part of why I've had him on my mind and in my gallery lately. And, surprisingly, everyone in the group seems to adore him.
But in 13th age, Simon's a Barbarian/Fighter dual class; and with 13th age being a system that encourages re-flavoring existing mechanics, we all decided his 'rage' would be something a bit more befitting a blatant Final Fantasy IX pastiche. So here he is, in Trance, surrounded by a gyre of energy to shield him and wear away his foes.
Oh, and some sort of warding seems to have come to the surface of his coat. Interesting.
