I don't think it was joking banter, Disney doesn't have that kind of sense of humor, and I'm pretty sure they were on a date at the end of the movie at the gazelle concert.

I wouldn't disagree with that, but I don't think we'd know for certain unless they made another movie. Which I am not a big fan of sequels nowadays, BUT I think it'd have an interesting one.

I think they're planning on it, hopefully disney has higher standards for sequels nowadays. Either way, it seems like Nick and Judy are as close as close can be

I made an uguu face when I saw this. Although, personally, I'm inclined to believe that they realized their feelings off-screen durin' Nick's time at the academy and the scene in the movie was just a confirmation that they did indeed move beyond friendship. :3
