Wanted to share my latest find with you guys - I have been eyeing some Mummies Alive design sheet auctions on Ebay for a year now, and despite the high price, I finally gave in and got Bastet - seeing as the price wasn't dropping but the others (sadly, Sekhmet and Anubis too) got sold.
Bastet only appears in one episode, called "Paws", where she soon turns Nefertina into a cat-woman and summons all cats from the city, intent on re-establishing her worship. She is the villain of the episode but she isn't really malicious, just feels spurned by how humanity forgot her and how it treats cats.
I really like how... well-endowed she is. Not fat, just round in all the right places. And those "sideburns"! I already drew Sekhmet and Anubis from this show, and I gotta do her too - and I also plan to color her design sheet of course.

I have watched a bit of the former, but never the whole series. It was a weird idea... and there was a female skeleton too!
Mummies Alive is... more like "Gargoyles Light". It can be quite serious and has a similar premise, and it has an ongoing storyline, but never gets as dark as Gargoyles and keeps the comedy always around.

Interestingly, one of the primary writers for gargoyles answered a boatload of adult only questions in regards to Gargoyles.

Who knew Greg was into such naughty stuff!!! Thanks, this is informative. And yeah, the show was kinda adult toned at times.
Btw, in Mummies Alive Nefertina had a swing with Apep - yeah, THAT Apep aka Apophis, the snake who eats the sun every night. Except here, he is an anthro cobra biker with his own gang of monstrous bikers. He starts out as a villain but falls in love with her, and she feels the same way, so he usually tries to thwart Scarab. Sadly, being an ancient demonic entity is kinda stopping them from being together.

I remember him, just mentioned him above... Might draw him someday with cat-ified Nefertina. It was an unique idea to turn such an universally evil character - and s snake at that! - into an romantic anti-hero and love interest.
Did you know Apep had a toy? Incredibly rare, there is an incomplete one on ebay for a while. He can transform into his anthro cobra form.
I bet he and Heka would have been nice together too. Heka is my all-time favourite from this show...

Based on what I've found - and it has been a long time since I did - Apep/Apophis was less LOL-Evulz in the earlier days and more chaos-orientated.
But like you said, he was for me one of the better additions to that show and one of the few episodes I consistently watch, being more of an anti-hero than a straight-up villain - and for me my all-time favourite character from the show.
I did know he had a toy, but finding even a good image is a challenge at best.
If you do - with either Nefer-Tina or Heka - that I have to see.

FUnny, used to be the same for Set! He used to protect Ra's sun barge from evil (something that comes up in the new movie too) - it wasn't until later when he was associated with everything Egypt hated, like the desert, foreigners, evil - that he became the big bad.
Here you go! Cobra Strike Pep - Incomplete, as I think he had a snake lower body to replace his legs with - and even so sold for 100$... has been on ebay for years, as much as I like the character and the show and anthro toys in general, little too steep for me. I am watching ebay regularly, as to my knowledge he and other late wave toys were only released in Europe, I had luck with other rare toys popping up on ebay in Europe like that Amelia toy from Treasure Planet or the Adventures of T-rex (germany only) toyline.

Btw, I already have a Heka pic, if you haven't seen that yet - also Anubis and Sekhmet.

TBH, I expected more, but well not many people google/search Mummies ALive. It's quite an obscure show.
Btw I managed to find a terribly over-dubbed (not sure why the russian do that, dubbing russian OVER the english track) but really nice quality VHSrip of the show. Now trying to replace the audio to english.

Yeah, I bought this off Ebay. I was stupid and waited on the rest for prices to drop, and lost out on models of Seth, Apep and his biker gang of monsters... There was also one of Nefertina in cat form (but just the photo from the episode).
I inked Tos Katun on the weekend, gonna color her today if I can. Finally I found a "gel" ink pen that dries quickly and does not smudges or brightens when I erase the pencil lines... I usually find a brand and by the time I want to buy the same thing again they discontinued it and I have to start experimenting again... and believe me, it's not fun having to re-ink something in Photoshop...

Just FYKI - you can click on the "reply to post" on the right lower side below my post, that way your response does not come up as a new post to the topic!
Nah, I have never seen one, people tell me about these things, but I have not found any at Mediamarkt or anywhere where I can try it out. I do not want to order one from the net without trying it. Honestly, I prefer a real pen/pencil and paper - makes things more real. I only use Photoshop for coloring.

Thanks! Well, for lesser known shows, these things don't go for that much - it wasn't in the over 100$ range. I managed to get quite a few CELs and sketches from some favourite shows and toons like The New Adventures of Flash Gordon (those sexy Lizard Women), or Animalympics (Kit Mambo).
I am still kicking myself for not deciding sooner and losing out on the design sheet of Sekhmet from the show, though.
