and what does the triangle signify?

if i am understanding the history correctly, its first real use was back in WWII, it was a marker for the nazi camps... jews wore a star of david, homosexuals wore a pink triangle... in fact if you look a little you can see they marked all major prisoner classes individually... afterward someone got the idea of changing the stigma, why let the nazis own the triangle when we could be proud to wear it...

of course i get the feeling the overall purpose is a little lost... i imagine the original intent of it was a "wear your scars with pride so the world will always know" thing... i also theorize that the fact that homosexuals suffered alongside jews has something to do with their willingness to accept homosexuals... (example, they allow openly gay people to serve in their military)
