With some free time on the first day of arriving, I went about exploring the city I'd arrived in the previous night, as I always do. As those of you who've been to Edinburgh will no doubt know, Edinburgh is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, and it rather reminds me of Prague, with narrow, cobbled streets, and a beautiful castle overlooking the old city. Coming to the Scottish Parliament (which is one of the weirdest buildings I've ever seen), I did not expect to find a large hill in the middle of the city, and it was fascinating to see how the city had been built around it.

Of course, my first instinct was to climb it, and that's just what I did, in the space of about 20 minutes. The view from the top, on all sides, was incredible! Very windy, too, so I'm glad I brought a comb. After coming down a slope, somewhere off the beaten track, on which I very nearly said my goodbyes at one point, I found a coffeehouse and rested the whole thing off with a Scottish breakfast. Good morning, I think! :P

In the picture, you can see most of the old town, including the castle, some of the university buildings, and if you look very closely into the background, you can even see the Forth Bridge, which crosses the Firth of Forth, which heads out into the North Sea.
