If I understand the scroll right, by reading the oath out loud his abilities to use magic was just unlocked so he could properly repair the arm and further be of use to her..... So in other words he also became her apprentice/man-servant......

I know it's a 'period piece' and all that, but still....

Why have such a beautiful frog smoking? That is as appealing as her shoving her stump in peoples faces, gleefully shouting, "Look at my amputated arm, LOOK AT MY STUMP!"

Yes, the smoke haze allows for an artistic breakup of the left side of panel 4, but smoking is just not as attractive as it was even a few decades ago.

Beatriz is not what you would consider a GOOD PERSON, so you're in your right to judge her for her lifes decisions :V

We have seen little of her backstory, and for the most part she has come across as an honorable, if slightly manipulative, Knight. That depiction is still a bit two-dimensional, since it's just 'honorable knight' mixed with 'feminine guile;' she does not have the brawn to intimidate those who need intimidation, so she verbally dances around them, tricking them into doing exactly what she wants.

This information that she's not as nice as I may have assumed (Darn those big, expressive eyes, they give her such a sense of innocence when she unleashes her 'doe eyes stare,' it took me off guard). With this new data, the smoking makes a little more sense, leading me to consider adding a drop or two of 'pirate/buckaneer' to the mix.

Only time will tell if my new guess is more correct than my old one.

That sneaky frog. Depending on how oaths work in this case, just by reading the preamble our fuzzy friend is already bound up and in a situation where if he DOESN'T finish it, he's more screwed (as he lacks some of the provisos that protect the oath taker?)

This might be Beatriz's scheme to mitigate her consequences for losing a REALLY expensive arm. "Look boss, I got a minion to swear the oath and he ALREADY knew out to speak the language of the pact scroll! See, special minion, right here? No need to disassemble me as a punishment right?"

(To which he'll respond: No, there's still a need for that, I just won't rearrange your organs 'for fun' when I put you back together.)

PS: Did you by any chance use an elder scroll as a reference because they look vary similar.
