During the 1990s, when I was a contributor to "The Dallas Brawl Update", I had created a series of gags about 'Bloat Cola' (a parody of 'Jolt Cola'), with each consumer of the highly-carbonated product ending up inflated. In the middle of this decade, I wrote and illustrated a story revolving around the bubbly beverage and its latest victim, 'Eric Fox'. That story - "Eric's Vintage Bloat" - and its art can be found in the website "Alden's Story Locker"... or you could just click on this link: http://www.aldensstorylocker.furtop.....oat/index.html
But in between these two moments of creativity, I had 'Eric Fox' try 'Bloat Cola' one time earlier (in January, 2002). And since the Super Bowl is coming up this weekend, with all those expensive commercials (currently $3 million for a 30-second ad), what better way to promote 'Bloat' than with an inflated consumer floating over the football stadium, wearing a T-shirt with the brand name product on it! Of course, as this image illustrates, there are still a few kinks to work out...

I'll tell you what makes ME feel old... After having my angina attack back in 2001, I gave up on all sodas (cold turkey), just when all the newer flavor began to come out. To this day, I never got to try Vanilla Dr. Pepper, Coca-Cola with Lime, etc. for health reason. Now, I long for the good old days, when my favorite sodas included Nedick's Orange Soda, Dr. Brown's Black Cherry, original Dr. Pepper, and Creme Smoothies (a cherry-flavored cream soda from a store in Reading, PA).
Anyway, Mel., thanks for the comment from "Memory Lane"!
