I remember one of the illustrations in the RPG book had a critter narrowly avoiding a falling trapezoidal weight. The weight was marked in the alphabet as [20 ton], and while that was suitably dangerous, it seemed rather arbitrary, especially as comics (and comic illustrations lifted to fill RPG books) tended to have 'in-jokes' and 'shout-outs' to other comics and icons of pop culture. That's when I realized that the Albedo universe ran on base 8, which made sense, as the characters who had fingers were 'toon-handed,' with three fingers and a thumb on each hand. That also made the weight a shout-out to Monty Python as it was a 16 ton weight.
"Now that actually is not the answer that I had in mind, because the book that I got this problem out of wants you to do it in base eight. But don't panic. Base eight is just like base ten, really...if you're missing two fingers."

Thank goodness this never had a cartoon series/action figure line; it means I got less grumpy old people screaming "I WAS HERE FIRST YOU POSER!" to wade through. If there's something old people hate more than young people arriving late to a party, it's young people arriving late to a party after somebody ran TV ads for it. =P
I forgot, was the comic advertised in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or was it the other way around?
