I did this picture largely in the spirit of many older DOS games (featured Jazz Jackrabbit included) that would often chastise players for even moving their selection cursors over the easiest difficultly settings. Wolfenstein 3D would give the protagonist a nuk and bonnet when the difficulty 'I Want My Mommy' was highlighted (and apparently a trend that continued into the newer games as well). In Heretic the easiest difficulty was simply labeled 'Thou Needs A Wet Nurse'. Jazz Jackrabbit would simply present the player with an infantile version of the hero.

I'm not sure why this type of imagery was so prevalent at the time. Granted two of the three examples were from the same software house (iD), although in terms of 'additude' Epic Megagames wasn't too far off either.
