Finally getting back to the Angel and Knight Alternate 01 dreamscape! The alien invaders of Earth in this universe are a multi-species culture that refers to itself as the Hisszao. Earthlings usually just call them Birdies.

Just as there are hundreds of species on Earth, there dozens of different plumages and bill types and builds amongst the invaders. Sizes vary but in general they are about the size of a large velociraptor. In fact since they don't fly much of their anatomy is similar to dinosaurs.

Hisszao are ruled by a recent, last hundred or so years, Theocracy that not only oversees all aspects of both everyday life but also all military operations. This fact chafes the Military since they've been against this invasion since the beginning and have only recently decided to eliminate the Theocracy once Hisszao are in a better position to demand conditions from Earth.

The black Birdie at the bottom is one of the secret success stories for Earth through all this. Given the codename Poe; he is a Hisszao intelligence officer that they captured alive who specialized in monitoring and processing transmissions from Earth before the invasion began. His ship was shot down at the start of the war and while the Hisszao believe there were no survivors he did out of a crew of ten. What has helped even more is the fact that Poe can speak English and that he is a member of a heretical sect that has secretly opposed the Theocracy's invasion of Earth. Eventually Earth intelligence officers were able to get him to talk but they were unable to completely provide for his medical and nutritional needs and he died after about a year in captivity.
