"I AM THE WELLSPRING OF DARKNESS... FED BY ZEMUS' UNBRIDLED HATE. I AM HE WHO IS CALLED ZEROMUS..... I AM HE WHO KNOWS NAUGHT BUT HATE!!"
Does this count as furry? I mean, most of his body is hair... EVIL hair, but...
Never mind. This boss has always held a significance to me. The first time I ever beat FF4 (which was FF2 in the ancient times), I was almost a wreck. I couldn't sleep until this monster was defeated, and the feeling of sheer satisfaction flowed through me like a riptide. I was a hero! A real one!
And back then, video game achievements REALLY meant something. My body shook, my eyes were wide and focused during the final battle, even my blood vessels had almost frozen, and I could see them under my skin, like pink marble.
So uh... Yeah. FF4 will always have a special place in my heart as a gamer. :D

RE: Video game accomplishments.
Some of the oldest arcade-style video games actually would prompt further play by encouaging you to "Go for the world's record!" There's a BG dialogue referring to this in the arcade sequence in TRON, as well.
It isn't like it was when I was thirty years younger, and eight and sixteen-bit games were the industry standard: hits would score you maybe ten points, thirty tops. To get any score into five digits would take some work. Nowadays if you just manage not to miss the games gives you 100k.
Your monster is classic Japanese demon-beast: a huge hairy mass fronted by a scary demon mask.
